Default If you do not use your vette as a daily driver....I ask, why not???

It seems like most vette owners I run across do not use their vette as a daily driver and I was wondering why?

Beats me. A day without driving the vette is a day without sunshine.

Drive mine everyday, unless there is a horrible snow storm or icy roads :yesnod:

I work in a concrete production plant.

The type of "dust that is accumulted is very abrasive. Also, there is enough waste contrete on the roadways that the wheelwells of my Pathfinder are caked with concrete.

The paint on the Pathfinder is now thin from years of abuse also.

However, once I get home, if I want to go somewhere other than shopping, I have no problems taking the vette.

...Cause I love driving my 4 cylinder sooo much
I used to drive my black one every day (18k in one year :D ) but the care and feeding gets to be too much on a black colored car for everyday :yesnod: (I put about 2,000 miles on it per year now)
The other Vette's just don't see much either as I have reserved myself to driving them on nice weather days only (I did drive the red one this morning

:steering: WHHHHOOOOSHHHHHHHH )

Enjoy your Vettes however you choose

*shrug* Cuz I have a company car. They pay the insurance, maintenance and gas. Some years I drive 35-40k miles for my job. I love the vette and dont get near enough time behind the wheel but my company car has 195k miles on it already. I wouldnt want to do that to the vette. If my mileage dropped a lot Id get another vette, proilly a vert w/AT as a daily driver in a heartbeat :blueangel:

Because I drive 130 miles round trip each day, don't want to put that many miles on the vette, so I drive either my S10 pickup or my Saturn, both 4 cyl. cheap to operate. All pleasure driving is reserved for the vette. :yesnod:

i mostly drive the vette in fair weather, i want to preserve it as long as i can, it'll be awhile before i can get another. i have two other cars for the work commute (65 miles round trip). a tempo for winter(fwd), & a mild custom caprice for the rest of the year. were i work (BIG US postal service distribution center) we have a couple hundred Somali immigrants that drive clapped out beaters & don't have much etiquite in the parking lot, if ya know what i mean.

I drove mine everyday for the first 5 1/2 years and over 93,000 miles.

It's a great car, I just didn't want to kill it.

I don't drive the vette everyday because I have other vehicles that I can beat the crap out of everyday. I'd get tired of driving the vette if I drove it everyday and it wouldn't be "special" like it is now...the thrill would be gone...it wouldn't mean as much as it does now....to me the vette is an "adult toy"...not a daily beater...and if you play with the same toy everyday it gets old and not fun anymore...(just my own personal thoughts)....now I'm going to go out for a spin in the vette and have some fun... :seeya :D

BTW...when I'm not driving it...I am always cleaning and polishing it...I do love my vette :D

I drove mine everyday except when snow was on roads until a few years ago. Thats when I got a VW NB Diesel and enjoy driving that now.

I feel bad that I have only been putting 5000 miles a year on the Vette now. It really needs to be used......

I drive only half way, then park in a Metro parking lot and catch the subway. At the Metro lot my Honda has been broken into twice for the radio and CDs, and driven into once by an idiot driver who can't park. If I drove all the way to my work location I would be in the company of dump trucks and beaters and just generally dangerous azzholes. Not to mention the stop and go driving in the Washington DC area, and my Vette is a 6 spd.

I have a perfectly good paid off 13 year old Honda Civic, so why should I subject a Corvette to that???

Why should I when I can afford a "beater" to load up with miles and put through the pains of the daily grind? I plan to keep my Vette for a few years and I want to get at least 90% of my money back when I sell it to upgrade into a ZR-1 or C5. Loading up my 89 with tons of miles now and driving it in snow or rain when it has never seen either is not prudent. :seeya

Mileage detracts from resale value. I know a large portion of the people on the C4 forum don't care about resale value, but I do, solely because I'd like to sell the C4 someday when the C5s come down in price. I like the C5s alot, even the back end. The C4 is all I could afford right now.

I use my Camaro for the drive to DFW airport parking lot. I am gone for four
days and there is no security. I see a lot of Vettes in the lot and some of them don't have windows anymore. Plus, I want to hang on to my 89 for
a very long time.
