Default 96 GS, Where to sell ?

I have a 96 GS and the time is coming to sell. Where have folks found success in selling ? I don't expect the prices that the auctions seem to be getting, but ...

Can put that up on the forum, then Bring a Trailer, or find someone locally who specializes dealing in Corvettes, etc.

Bring a Trailer is bringing the money lately. I would start there and it will only cost you $99 to list your car. Buyer will pay a buyer's premium.

Depends on your level of effort, but Bring a Trailer seems to be a draw lately for no BS cars.

If your car has a story, there's other sites. Craigslist, perhaps

So many vendues online most are free.

Take the best pics you can, list both the good and the not so good. Everyone runs ads claiming their car is perfect, a splash of honesty grabs my attention.

People regularly pay 10-15% or more over market value on BAT. Prime example: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2000-chevrolet-metro/

Bring and Trailer is you're willing to put up with the hassle of a toxic community without money to buy, but there are a few people who will be quiet and actually have money. On BAT, you'll get bombarded with nonsensical questions from non bidders, but if you're lucky you'll get a few actual buyers there. But man is it a pain to deal with the whole site.

EBay if you want to sell it without the hassle. If it's a clean low mile car, I'd go to a few local dealers or collectr car places and see if they'd buy outright, often for the same money as you'd sell on eBay or BAT.

Yes and no. Bring a trailer is, as of now, the premier online auto auction site. Cars and listings are well vetted. Comment section is both good and bad. There are some good questions and things people point out, then 100 tire kickers. The nice thing is, you can see how many times a person has bid and what they bid on to ignore tire kickers. I wouldn't call the community toxic by any stretch. They are car people, just ones that have been given unfettered access to comment on car auctions they can't afford to participate in.

There are some cars I wouldn't risk putting on there due to the no reserve style of most of their auctions. I'd put a grand sport or zr-1 up there in a heart beat. Would I put a super clean low mileage standard C4 up there...no. My sister just sold her 1984 Porsche 911 on there and the site is in no way a pain to deal with. Everything went smoothly and she got more money then she would have got in the current market in a private party sale.

Ebay is a mess. Cars blatantly misrepresented, listings incorrect, and no vetting process whatsoever on any of it. The audience on Ebay has shrunk significantly over the years and it is more of a buyer's market on there than a seller's market. Avoid unless you are trying to sell a polished turd. Every vehicle I have bought off of ebay in the last 20 years has been misrepresented in some way, with the exception of the zr-1 I bought complete that was being sold as a parted out engine and transmission...lol.

You will see a 10-15% loss selling on Ebay vs. BAT. A dealer will easily be 10% below BAT as they are trying to make money as well. Private party sale requires a lot of time and patience and you'll get a ton of tire kickers and have to feel every one of them out.

The key to a good sale on bat is:
Good pics
Communicate
Good video

I've found ebay to be utter *****.
