That, I agree with. I wouldn't think that you'd need to clarify to "not hold a 3500 PSI nozzle 2" away from certain components (or any part of the engine, really). But....perhaps that does need to be clarified.

0k thanks for all the ideas! I've been using simple green diluted with small scrub brushes. Seems to work well. Anybody know where I can get replacement badges for the fuel rail covers??
Mine are missing!
Thanks

Don't most aluminum brighteners contain some kind of acid which may not be good for the leaf spring? I've always heard this for my C6 but never been brave enough to test it.

I've "heard" it on the net. Never seen it in practice. I've done my lower a-arms numerous times. Spring(s) is still there. Done rear suspension(s) several times...spring(s) is still there.
I've not seen any evidence that supports that claim.

Simple green, different size inexpensive paint brushes, rags, mothers aluminum polish , 303 protectant and elbow grease. This is a 95 with 135,000 miles. Attachment 48320231

I've never used simple green but I see a lot of folks say that it cleans very well.
Do you still have to do a fair amount of scrubbing with the simple green?
I don't wanna sway the op's topic off point, but the reason I ask is because I have this mess to deal with...
So basically, how good is the simple green really? How much scrubbing does it still involve? My energy is still pretty low so I wanna get in and out as quickly as I can.

Use aluminum brightener, then. No scrubbing involved. Spray it on...pressure wash it off.
See HERE, for a before and after, no scrubbing.
Simple Green is a concentrated detergent...not functionally different than most any other concentrated detergent. It cuts grease, GOOD, but requires scrubbing.

I used Eagle 1 etching aluminum cleaner. At work, we use the an industrial version to clean the aluminum side panels on the snow cats. Same make up....different container (5 gal bucket, at work).
