I got a set of 4, Michelin Pilot Sport All Season P275/40/ZR17 with a speed rating to 186 MPH, back in July from Discount Tire. They own Tire Rack. Tires on my 90 Dark Red Ragtop were almost 12 years old, when I got the car in early June. Early July, got the Michelin Pilot Sport Tires on it and have never looked back. Great handling and ride compared to the old tires. No noise, either. Best choice I have made in tires for a long time.

Regardless of the brand and type of tire you are replacing, and the brand and type of tire you are replacing them with, new tires will always handle and ride better than the old ones. Always.

Tire Rack lists them in stock 1996 sizes. I just checked and both the front and rear are in stock. Dan

Two things I never cheap out on are tires and brakes. If you can afford the extra, go with Michelin. After that I’d say Continental followed by General (which I believe are owned by Continental). Nothing wrong with Nittos, I had them on my 89. But if I cold do it over again I would have spent the extra on Michelins. The Nittos flat spotted terribly and took a few miles to even out. Whatever you do, don’t get those no name Chinese tires that seem to be everywhere now. If money is an issue I’d say just go with Nitto.

Discount Tire has a rebate deal going on Michelins right now. No Tire Racks near me, but there is a Discount Tire close by that I've done a lot of business with over the years. They've always done a great job. It appears the Pilot Sports aren't available in 285 for the rears, but they do have them in 275/45/55. So I'm gonna head over there tomorrow, and see about them. The tires that came with my 96 are about 10 years old now. They seem to be in great shape still, but tires that old make me nervous.

Anyway, thanks for the replies, fellas. Appreciate it.

Discount tire is owned by tire rack. Maybe other way around. Discount tire will match any deal offered by tire rack. Dan
EDIT: The way I know this is I went into my local Discount tire and asked what they would charge to mount and balance new tires for my non-Corvette daily driver that were on sale at Tire rack. I was informed by the counter man that Tire rack and discount tire were the same company and they would honor any price that tire rack offered. On top of that they would take delivery and call me when they came in. The mount and balance were the regular price. They did honor the sale price at tire rack and I did not have to take delivery and haul them in.

I went with Pilot Sport A/S as I plan to drive mine as long as there isn't snow on the ground. 255/40/ZR17 up front and 275/40/ZR17 out back. Quiet ride, good warranty, and great in the rain.

I got the Michelin Pilot Sport tires installed yesterday at Discount Tire. Thanks to their rep Jordan here in the forum for getting me all set up, I appreciate it. The tires feel great, very happy with them. They did use 275 rears because Michy doesn't make them in 285 at 17, but that doesn't seem to make much difference, it's negligible. But yeah, the tires are very nice, and I'm quite pleased with them.

You won’t be disappointed with your choice.
