2016 C1 of the Year Finalist

Default Leroy Neiman Edition 1986 Corvette

A friend stumbled across this Corvette convertible. Can't say that I've ever heard of it before. Searched the web and it's one of 25 made. Has anyone owned one?

Had no idea that was a thing. I knew he did a painting picturing a C4, but didn't know there was any special edition C4s with his name on them

As far as I can tell ( I may be wrong) these are not factory produced edition vehicles. It looks like a dealer in Hartford CT produced these at their dealership

Default leroy neiman corvette

I worked on it back then at Lipman Chevrolet, East Hartford CT. Drove the first one back to the dealership, with the painting on the hood (later sold without the car). I don't think one was ever sold, they went to the auction w/o the LN stuff. Priced WAY too high, then got old and stale. The painted hood was sold at some point, not by LN but by his students.

Just like a "heritage edition" Z28s in the 90s from dealers.

Default Leroy Neiman Corvette

I worked at lipman Chevrolet at the same time that these were being assembled I did some work on them including converting the interior to white. I later found one driving in Coventry Connecticut The owner thought he had some special super high performance version of the car of course he was really drunk at the time and the car was really beat. Made me kind of sad to see it that way.

The 92 camaros had the option to get a factory stripe kit from Chevrolet. It was a $175 option RPO Z03.
8,197 camaros out of the 70,007 camaros came with that factory option. I have one of the 430 hardtop Z28's with red exterior and bkack factory stripes.

i find that interesting. the white interior pre-dates the 88. I’ll bet someone at GM took the cue from here.
