1993 40th anniversary model
Looking for opinions on the value of a 93 40th edition with 44000 miles. Looks clean but being sold by a dealer for 11500..is the price fair or high? Thanks

Looks very clean. I'd say that's a very good price. Looks like a sketchy buy here pay here place, so I'd expect there's some sort of a catch, because that's priced probably a couple grand lower than market. I wouldn't go in expecting that to be the actual price.

I wonder why the 3rd owner only owned it for 5 months?
The belts on 92 and 93early are double sided ribbed. So that is the correct belt and mounted properly! Not to worry.
I say it is a good buy at $11,000 but only if it needs nothing!
Still would find out why that third owner only had it for five months.

Dealership claims it was owned by a corvette aficionado....not for 5 months and sold to a Dealership

It looks pretty clean in the pics, nothing beats a first hand look though. My 40th has 33k miles and it's super clean and in the pics it looks as good as mine. I'd have to look at it with my own eyes if it were me though, I've went to look at different cars that looked so good in pics that ended up being a let down. Price seems decent, they made quite a few of these, not all that rare, one of the best looking anniversary editions in my opinion though.

Torchy yours must be at the later end of the 93 production run after GM changed. I am not sure of exact timing of when the change was made but they realized it was more expensive to have a double ribbed belt.
Azvette- when you look at the carfax you can see the first two owners kept it for a long time but the third owner bought it in October 2020. That may be the dealer and if so he has had it for 5 months. Small lots do not like to hold cars for that long unless he paid a really low price and the carrying cost will not hurt him.

I bought my 93 Ruby coupe, auto, almost 2 years ago. It had 47k on it and i gave $9.5k. It was very good mechanically and looks really nice. So I would say $11k from a dealer is a good price, assuming it is as good as it looks in the pics. So you just have to go look at it to check it out.

Very few 28 year old cars need "nothing". Try all the electric seat adjustments (bolsters, seat tracks) as these are a common failure point along with other things such as radio/cassette, weatherstripping. 10K would probably be closer as you WILL find some things that need to be fixed.

Seems like the dealer is desperate, texted me a couple times. I told him without looking at the car it's barely worth 10 grand. Wants to know my offer

Well, that might be a clue that you don't want to buy it sight unseen. However, this may be an opportunity to make your offer contingent on your satisfaction with an inspection. Seems you may have maximum leverage not standing on the car lot.

If you get for 10,000 take it home. Offer 9,500 and anything less than $10,500 is good. Start the negotiations by telling them about the cost of the driver seat leather being replaced, maybe tires if they are older, anything else you discover when viewing it in person. He obviously wants it gone and his calling you means he doesn’t have a lot of people beating down the door to buy it.
Negotiating in person is a lot better than over the phone. Just be prepared to walk away and I think you can take it home at your price.
