Default '84 Owner's, who needs a Motor Trend COTY sticker?

Most '84 owner's already know that trying to find a "Motor Trend Car of the Year" decal is unobtainium! First and foremost I would like forum member "Livin_as_Luther" to be recognized for his many hours of design time and correspondences to make this a reality! We believe the original was done by hand, making each character in the font completely unique. We've done our best to accurately reproduce the original, I'm not claiming it's 100%, but I'd say 99%+! My role in the endeavor was an idea to make these available to all '84 owner's and I had the access to the facility to actually have these made, going through the process, tweaking it and several proofs created until we got it right! I don't know the technical jargon, but these are printed using 3M products, the color for "calipers" is it's own roll of gold film, basically these are not junk, produced in the same shop that makes all the graphics for Highway Patrol cars and such.

We decided right away, this is not a money grab, I'm not doing this for the money. Furthermore, if any of these pop up on eBay, I will stop making these available and pass along any information on who the offender is to the forum community! No monetary gain is to be made by anyone, the only purpose is to put a smile on the faces of all of you that need these for your car!

I would like to think we are all adults here and I don't feel it's necessary to prove ownership of an '84. That being said, to start with, I will limit the availability to 2 per member, 1 for the car- 1 extra or maybe you want 1 on both sides of the rear hatch! I'm not sure how this will be received, maybe a few members interested, maybe a bunch! I had 100 produced for the first batch, maybe I'll get stuck with them, maybe I'll need more. With everything tallied, the cost is $3 for 1 or $5 for 2, PayPal Friends and Family (gift, friend, otherwise I pay $0.45 fee), this includes the stamps (2 totalling $0.70) and envelope to mail them to you (if you live out of the country, let me know address and I'll find out how much postage is) Please PM with your address and I will send PayPal info. Inboxes fill up fast, I will send them out in the order they are received! Side note, pressure sensitive 3M paper was added to the non-sticky side, so you can apply the decal without ever touching it! And these adhere to the inside of the glass as originals did, not the outside!

To the moderators, I posted this in the general section, so, that it's seen by all, if I have done something wrong, please let me know, if you could also post it in the for sale section that would be great! Again, this price point is a break even amount and this is being done only to contribute to the Corvette Community! Hopefully this makes somebody's day👍

Calipers look kinda orange until installed, then look gold!

Freshly installed on my '84, stoked!!!!

Approximately 2-1/16", used pictures from other posts with tape measure as a reference.

Here's one photo used, we used a program that could super impose straight lines across from tape measure, I had asked for someone to use a calipers to measure, but this is the best I had to go on. I feel they're pretty darn close, like I said before, not claiming they're 100% perfect, but better than anything else I could come up with. The font is proportional of the diameter. I sure hope this thread doesn't turn into everyone telling me what's wrong with it (not implying you are, just a chance to address it) this was done in good spirits and intentions👍

Your welcome, these are the pictures I provided from my wife's '84 ( we purchased it from the original owner back in '99)

Not implying anything to the quality of the sticker, just wanted to get an idea of the size. My friend like me does not put stickers on our vettes, but something like this would be cool on an 84 as long as it was very small. Thank you.

Understood, I actually shouldn't have used your question to address the "naysayers"! That was a mistake on my part and I apologize for that!!! Too many threads start out positive and within 10 posts, people are fighting! I wanted this one to stay positive and I'm the one who assumed negativety! Again, I'm sorry for that!👍

Those look incredible!!! The original on my 84 is fairly well faded and this would be a nice replacement!

Send me a PM to exchange info and I'll send you 1 or 2 of them today (depending on if you want 1 or 2) I sandwich them between 2 thin pieces of cardboard and add an "extra ounce" stamp to the envelope so they are sorted by hand and not machine sorted! Thanks for the compliment, looking forward to the members who have their's in the mail already, receiving them and posting their thoughts👍

Glad to hear you are happy with them, you could always start it up, let it warm up with the heat cranked up and get it nice and toasty in the cabin....then put them on! But probably would be best to wait for warmer weather!!! I ran the forced-air propane heater in my garage for a half hour before I did mine, had the stickers in the house at room temperature, no problems at all, nice and sticky! I picked a spot for it, ran a horizontal piece of masking tape using a torpedo level as a guide, then did a vertical piece of masking tape (90*) for an edge reference on the outside of the glass and then applied the sticker on the inside, very slowly, using my fingertip as squeegee, working it from the bottom up!👍
