Whats quicker Callaway or ZR1
I've always hoped of getting a ZR1 some day, but after seeing some Callaways I'm undecided. I really like the styling of the Callaways. What is the faster car both in the 1/4 and top speed. After some research it looks like they are dam close. Both mid 12s for the 1/4. I am assuming the ZR1 would still whoop up in top speed. What do you all think?
Which would be concidered more of a collectable.

The smart azz reply is a Callaway ZR1, the Supernatural. Unless you can get your hands on the Sledgehammer.

Car and driver or was it Road and Track ran side by side. the ZR1 was fasterin 1/4 mile but it was less than .10 sec. The TT has more tork and was voted the most fun to drive.

You could probbaly get a nice ZR-1 for less then a Callaway. I would guess the ZR-1 would be less maintenance too. The Callaway will definetly have that rare factor and be more collectable. If you plan to really drive it, get the ZR-1.

I think you would find a ZR1 easier than a Callaway, and for less $.
I've never even have seen a Callaway for sale, but then again, I haven't gone looking for one either.

hmm, id think the Zr1 would take it in the 1/4, unless you already had the turbos spooled up. But in top speed i would think the Callaway would take over.

I think the Callaway needs the Aerobody to get into the high 180s low 190s. So an Aerobody Callaway would have the advantage on top end.

Re: Whats quicker Callaway or ZR1 (Crispyc21)
Crispy, Glad to see that you liked the Callaway that you saw last night ;)
As far as a ZR1 :boxing Callaway dog fight, the 1/4 mile times are close and either could be a draw however, in "roll-on's" and top speed... A Callaway would beat a ZR1 without a doubt.
True, an aerobody gave the Callaway's some extra speed (191mph top spd / coupe -vs- 186 w/out the aero body) it would nail a ZR1's 178ish top speed any day and get there, ultimately quicker.
On the corvetteactioncenter.com website, there are some neat stats on the Callaway cars (TT's, SN's, etc.) check it out if you have a chance :)
Collectability = Callaway
A ZR1 as someone said, is easier to find and generally will cost less...
ahh, decisions, decisions

At corvetteactioncenter this shows a 90 w/o aero going 172mph and a 90 w/aero going an est 191mph.
http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/...away/90tt.html
Just curious where the 186mph came from.

Re: Whats quicker Callaway or ZR1 (BiZ)
186 is the top speed of 88 and 89 standard body B2K
191.5mph is top spd rating of the 89 B2K aerobodies
Although I saw a pic where "UltraSlow" got his "stock body" to 197 (or so on GPS) <interesting :D

I heard that if you own a callaway, you will always be tinkering with it to keep it running right, ZR-1's are much more of a driving car. I was thinking about a callaway before I bought my Z, but I was warned from other on the list, and after much reseach I decided on the Z...
I hope someday to also have a callaway... :D

Well if you are talking about the Supernatural 450 with an Aerobody on it, our very own Dave Ramsden took his '95 Callaway to a 12.17 1/4 mile run. I forget what teh MPH was, but no stock ZR1 that I've seen comes close to that, even some modded ones couldn't run it, but then I've seen some modded ZR1's in teh low 10's.

Re: (Mr Mojo)
Heres my take on the situation....
Callaway Twin Turbo--ultimately the faster car for the money. Stock for Stock the Callaway will be faster. The only way a ZR1 can beat one is with some laughing gas or a stroker which is BIG $$$. BIG hp #s and torque can be had for very little money with the turbo car. Callaway is way more rare, and the torque sure is fun to drive. Much harder to launch in the 1/4 due to the torque, definite MONSTER on the highway. I personally won't race my Callaway in the 1/4 due to the rare nature of the car, plus the fear of breaking somthing.
ZR1--Very fast and very bulletproof. Alot more reliable than the Callaway. 400rwhp can be had for not too much $$$. Probably easier to race in the quarter, but remember that neither of these cars are truly 1/4 mile racers. An exclusive club in owning a ZR1, better chance for getting help with problems due to the enthusiasm of the cars owners e.g. zr1.net
Truthfully these cars are more of a compliment to each other. If you want a driver/serious race car get the ZR1... no doubt. If you don't mind having a car that probably won't/shouldn't be driven as much, but is a blast to drive get the Callaway.
Either way if you find a good car to buy youre gonna be a winner.

Your research shows they are pretty damn close in performance. Plus you don't drive fast, especially top speed runs anyways. So the performance factor between the two is really a mute point in this case. They both have enough vroom to take out 98% of the cars driven daily on the road today.
You said "I really like the styling of the Callaways". There's your answer, "Callaway". Glad to be of service to ya. :D :yesnod:    :flag

You know my VOTE.
Oh and yes 10's in the 1/4 mile are obtainable.

Re: Whats quicker Callaway or ZR1 (Crispyc21)
Ok, time for me to get an education...
The last week that Epping was open for "street night", I went up there with my son. We saw a TT Lingenfelter vette run consistent low 10's at 137 -139mph - and this car had major problems getting off the line! After 100' or so, this car simply became a missle. Everytime we went over to see the car the hood was open but there was nobody in sight. But I'm assuming it was stock from LPE.
Are we talking about this vette being equal to a ZR1 because I can't possibly see how any stock ZR1 could keep up to that thing...
