Best garage/shop lighting...
I just had a small shop/garage built two years ago and am in process of installing the lights. I need to find some flush or low hanging lights for my garage. I work on my own cars and also paint cars when needed. My walls are 10 feet tall and would like to keep them as high as possible for a lift to store my Corvettes. Do you guys have any suggestions and can I get some pictures of your garages to see what you guys did for your lighting? Thanks in advance fellas.

My garage is a 24x24 9ft ceiling.... I started with 16, 2 bulb, 40watt., 4ft fluorescent lights. (25 years ago). I have since changed all but 4 out to 4ft. LED lights I got at costco.... I have the other 4, but getting access in my garage is a problem.... It is a mess!! I will try to get pictures up latter today or tomorrow.

I second the 4' LED idea. They can be had pretty cheaply, they are efficient, they don't flicker, and they don't suffer in the cold like fluorescent lights. For a garage I'd go with the cooler "bright white" color (which really adds some blue to the light color), rather than the soft/warm/yellow colors.

LED is the only way. If you have a Rural King, they have some that are about 25 bucks and amazing. The slightly cheaper ones are nice too, but dont have quite the same dispersal of light.
I have a 2 car garage with 6 of these lights. They're great. I kind of wish I had more, but its WAY brighter than my dads garage with it's high output fluorescent fixtures... for a lot more money.

maybe consider a few lights lower to the ground (~2-3ft from the floor), but on the walls. To help add lighting from the sides, especially when you're working on the lower sections of your car.
scroll down halfway on the below link, to see an example of what I mean...

I have a 3 bay attached garage with 11 foot high ceilings. Until recently I just used 3 screw in CLF bulbs. I found a product similar to this on amazon. 7K lumens each. They screw in just like a regular bulb. Very effective for us

I had the four foot fluorescent light in the shop swapped out to LEDs. The fixtures required some rewiring and more time than I wanted to be on a ladder so I had an electrician come in and do it. Really happy with the results.

So simple, yet so effective! Great idea. If I could make my floor light up with inset flush lights, it would be even better! Hmmmm.

I used to own a body shop and we already have the wiring for putting horizontal lights about 4 ft off of the floor. I think the LED light is the way to go. I will start looking locally but I doubt anyone has anything good out here except maybe Lowe’s or Menards but I guess I could just order them online.

I saw in Mendards ad for this week they have a 7000 lumens LED shop light for $19.99 after $10 rebate. Also on their website they had some others also on sale.
Let us know if what you end up with and how they work out for you.

I have seven keyless light fixtures in my garage. The bulbs I use are the 100w equivalent 5000K LED’s. They give off a good amount of light and the 5000K temperature is a good light to use when working on a car.

I was made aware of Sams club having 4 ft linkable honeywell lights about a year ago. That is what i did in my garage. Wired outlets in the ceiling, then plugged the lamps in and linked them. You can link up to 5 of them
They were $25 each 4 ft light. I put up 20 of them in my 24x40

Been getting these of late, 4' LED's, $30-$40, most of the big box stores have them, Wallyworld, etc.

These are 8' LED strips I bought on Facebook marketplace. 2 rows of LEDs angled for 270° of light. I like them much better than the 4' fixtures with reflectors I bought at Sam's Club. My ceiling is 8' and each row is 4' apart. I'd like to install two more rows to cover the rest of the ceiling above the garage doors.
I didn't like the 4' lights with reflectors because they left my ceiling and the tops of the walls dark, and the whole garage just felt dark.
Theae are 8' LED fixtures I found on marketplace, $20 each.

I bought 5 of these at Harbor Freight for $19 each. (using the coupon in the link below)
The lights are great but the housing is the real surprise, really nice looking brushed extruded aluminum.
They light up the inside of my little 32" x 16' barn like it's daylight in there. LOL
