Corvette C4 Fuel Sending Unit Assembly
Hey Guys,
I'm looking to buy a fuel sending unit assembly kit for my '86. I've seen mixed reviews about rockauto.com. What do you guys think of them? Has anyone purchased this kit from them, or another supplier which they could recommend?
I hope you all have a great holiday.
Cheers,
Ved

I've purchased from them. No problems. Pay more attention to who made the product.

Look no more -- the 10 bolt rectangular flange make the sender very unique and a C4 thing only. Contributes to the pricing I'm sure. In the past many 'parts' from other trees have been used to repair.

One small advice, when I was replacing my unit along with the sock, make sure the unit you get doesn't have corrosion (rust) of any type on the sending unit.
When I was purchasing them back when from dealership it took them three units till they had perfect one, cause if they have corrosion they will eventually short out, and the pump won't work.
That's what happened to mine.
You might want to replace the pump while you have it apart.

fuel sender
I had to replace mine last october. got it from rockauto.com after 1 week the car would not run, the fuel pump shorted out. removed sender assembly and sent it back to rock, within a week they sent another.
I like rocks customer service all the pumps come from one or two venders anyway i had AC delco pumps quit within 6 months. so these days quality parts are rare.

Bought the whole sending unit assembly from rock auto. Two years it quite. On my second one and we'll see. From what I can see, no where near as good as the original OEM quality.

Don't blame Rockauto, blame the manufacturer that produced it.
Check manufacturer's website for warranty details, they might cover failures longer than Rockauto (same as any other vendor, Oreillys, Autozone, Zip Corvette, etc, etc).
Rockauto has great customer service. I got a refund from Rockauto on two wheel bearings from GMB that were obviously different sizes, even though GMB claimed they were the both fine (not to me!).

Ill add that my gas gauge did not work and I bought a generic 0-90 ohm unit from ebay for I think $18 and a little creative mounting and works great.

Thanks for this. I've found on on rockauto.com - a GM restoration part. Looks good (well made) with no signs of corrosion. Time will tell how it goes.
