I want to find a rack that leaves access to the gas tank cover. How can I be sure that this one will fit?

Is what you are looking for, cause it's only C4 rack I can remember.

You might try swap meets, I don't think there made anymore!

Here another type luggage rack, I would prefer, I remember them when I owned a C4.

IIRC, that rack and case was sold by Eckler's and maybe one or two other companies. The case was watertight and it could be easily removed and brought into a hotel/motel room when you were on the road.

Does anyone ever really strap luggage down on these racks? Can't imagine it would look good.

I have, just for short trips to or from the airport though. Nothing long distance yet. I used bungee cords to secure it. Longer trips might require a better looking way to secure it. I have put my 88 year old mother's walker on my luggage rack for times I have taken her out in the car. That actually got some laughs from people passing me when they wanted to see who was driving a corvette that had a walker strapped to the back.

If your mother is 88 years old it's great that she can get in and out! Hell I'm 65 and don't look to graceful getting in and out.
