This is what you're looking for. Sometimes the date stamp ends up on the "back-side" of the tire, so if you don't find an embossed block like this (on post 2000 tires week/year) on the outside, check on the back-side. On pre-2000 tires the last three numbers indicate the Week and year of manufacture. For the decade, you'll have to interpolate.
Good luck... GUSTO

Very nice. Its tough to roll the odometer on a low mile car but this is a driver's car, not a trailer queen. Enjoy the ride. I've got a 95 LT1 6M and its a blast to drive. The LT motor is one of the best, whether its an LT1 or the LT4.

That tire age thing is a bitch. Mine came with tires with a ton of tread left. On closer inspection I see they are dated 03. As much as I hate to do it, out they go this year. I hope to find new shoes for "Big Bird" under the christmas tree.

I agree. I was talking to the wife yesterday and tires are on the menu for next season. I'll only put minimal miles (a few dozen) on it for the remainder of this one anyhow and I have a short list of items I want to do to ensure it's longevity.
And yes the few trips around the neighborhood have been a blast! Gotta get that 1-4 sensor plug kit though....that is realllly annoying.
While knowing about it there were a few times I pulled it into second gear without being fully cognizant of it requiring fourth....it didn't feel too good and I'm now fully aware of the 1-4 parameters.....and I hate it. Again....next season.

I haven't checked under the car to see if the sensor is unplugged....on the to-do list. I doubt it because on the second day I took it around the neighborhood and when going into second then third a handful of times, it wasn't easy or pleasant at all. Then when moving again I noticed the 1-4 light and shifted into fourth which was easier, and have been wary of that stupid light ever since. It makes highway driving much more hectic (now that I have the car tagged) having to take your eye off the road to be scared to damage your trans. in order to possibly skip 2,3.

So I took the Vette out for its maiden voyage yesterday and it performed beautifully! My wife and I had a blast.
I was inspecting the front fascia and hood afterward and noticed 4 teeny tiny nicks on the hood two near the left headlight and two in the white stripe. What sucks is in the 23k prior it only had TWO! I didn't take it on major highways or the interstate, only back roads and local four lanes, but on the blue and white paint job it sticks out like a sore thumb to me
Some touch up paint, thinned properly and a OOOO artist brush will eliminate them but long term I want a solution.
I've seen online and read about "wraps" done in clear. Has anyone done this to their car? Perhaps folks just do the front clip and rockers but if you're going that far you might as well do the whole car.
Thoughts, costs, shops to take it to, or personal experience with them??
I LOVE C4's but they are completely vulnerable and exposed to road rash, since there is nothing but paint to take the damage. Ugh.... the stress of owning a Corvette is new to me
EDIT: just ordered the touch up paint off of the GSR sites' approved vendor.

With respect to tires, I didn't pay much attention to the tires when I bought my car. They looked okay. When i started scheming a road trip (800-1000 mi) I decided to check the dates. My two rear tires were 7 years old. On the front were 13 and 17 year old tires. So bought new tires. Of all the crap I have done to my car, new tires made the most noticeable difference. I guess the old ones were hard. New ones gave me better grip, better steering, quieter and seemingly softer/smoother ride.

No not yet....all of the info. is on the inside of the tire and naturally it's on the part currently hidden. I opened the hood to check. I actually haven't had it out for two weeks. So much going on I haven't had an opportunity to even drive it.
I'm hoping to have some time this weekend to continue going over things on my new "toy".

Bless me Father for I have sinned.
GT: I took my 02 Z06 out for another 100 + mile trip on 15 year old tires.
Father: WTF! Say three Hail Marys, two Our Fathers and then pray for some brains.
I took my 02 Z on a 112 mile round trip to visit my Daughter and Grandkids yesterday and was hoping my 15 year old factory issued tires would fail giving me a damn good reason to replace them. All freeway miles at 75+ and 75 thru the 101 and 202 transition curve. At the last 1/2 mile before home I hit second and put my foot to the floor and made her do a hula dance for 100 feet, so that was the only excitement during the trip. The car sits in a 100+ degree garage, the tires have never been curbed, run thru pot holes, been repaired or driven/parked while underinflated.
I have had countless blow outs along with complete treads flying off beating up the bed and body panels on quite a few F-150 and F250 trucks that are somewhat loaded while pulling a loaded single axle trailer cruising at 70 mph. And these tires were not age expired. For some reason I have never once had an incident with any of my outdated Good Year tires on any of my Z/28 Camaros or Corvettes.
I will say this though. These 15 year old tires with 15K miles went from noisy to extremely noisy, launch traction went from fair to Big Wheel hard plastic slippery, so I don't drive in the rain or snow.
