I installed a new battery today on my 96, old one was 5 years old. it wouldn't start a few weeks ago and I assumed it was the battery. Upon turning ignition I get no start but a clicking sound, I am guessing starter, but when the drivers door is open the car starts right up. Has anyone experienced this??

I would check and clean the connections on the starter, battery and check the cable. And the ground cable too. Pull the bolts out of the cable on the battery side and clean there too.
