Corsa exhaust droan/resonance
I have the Corsa exhaust system on the 1985 stock exhaust manifolds, high flow cat convertor, cat back Corsa exhaust system, not touching anywhere hung properly new hanger rubber at all locations, any ideas??
Here is photo of way exhaust hangs and spacing from facia!

any ideas - what? not sure what exactly you are asking - ??? are you having drone issues or do you have a clearance issues? since corsa doesn't make a 84-85 specific system, i'm take it, you either somehow modified the cat flange, or the corsa (rear) y-pipe flange, or went with a later style main cat, or ???. I know something about the corsa system on an 85, although I have yet to start the car, so i'm not sure about drone issues on my car. since it was a custom fit, there are no clearance issues. I have had several corsa systems on other C4's and never experienced drone.

Ive got the corsa system on my 87 and love it. Zero drone noise issues. That's why I spend over $1000 for the corsa system is because its the only system with no drone issues.

Yep $1000. I have permanent hearing damage from the Magnaflows connected to the 396 stroker in my 90 with headers and no cats. Corsas ended the drone. Hard to believe there would be drone with Corsas on a stock C4.

Uh, no. There are openings to the other tip that work on the pitch and there is exhaust coming from it, just not as much. The chambers throughout the system allow it to purr at cruise and roar unrestricted at throttle like no other. Maybe someday you will get one and learn the facts.

I just installed this system on my 86 with a flowmaster y pipe for an 85. I had a lot of resonance before but I had gutted cats and muffler eliminators. The car got a bit quieter at idle, but the big improvement was the change in tone, went from sounding like an old farm truck to a proper sports car. The exhaust is still fairly loud on the highway but does not drone.
As mentioned the mufflers do have 1 tip on each side almost fully blocked. Only 1 tip will get sooty. This allows for more resonator volume in the muffler and this same feature is on the later L98 stock mufflers. Another variable is sound deadener/carpet. The OEM carpet has mass backing and they used thick insulation underneath, if that has been changed out that could make things louder.

my 2-cents on whether both tips are functional, or one's a fake, or what. BOTH TIP'S ARE FUNCTIONAL. one tip on each muffler is the primary, and the other a secondary. each tip has a function, although different functions. the primary tip is pretty much a straight through design, and exits most of the exhaust and flow. the other tip is also functional, but has a different purpose. it has small opening(s) near the front and/or rear of internal muffler. they are 90 degrees or perpendicular to the length, and are a bit hard to see. the size of the openings, as well as the location within the internal muffler housing is precise and part of corsa's sound eliminating technology. i'm not an audio engineer, but it has something to do with drone frequencies and how they are cancelled for thee car's particular exhaust characteristics. somehow, corsa figured all this out. C4's tend to have drone somewhere around 1600-1800 rpm - just about cruzing speed. BECAUSE THE OTHER TIP HAS A FUNCTION, IT'S FUNCTIONAL. if someone's experiencing drone in a corsa system, they've modified something that changed the drone eliminating characteristics of the mufflers or system. people that slam corsa for only having one functioning tip, in general, don't understand technology.
I have had several corsa systems on c4's and never experienced drone. the best sounding corsa equipped car I've owned was my steel blue 90. magnaflow front y-pipe (with hi-flow pre-cats), magnaflow hi-flow main cat, and the corsa cat-back. I've installed a system on my 85, but have yet to start the car. getting close though....

Headers, high flow cats Corsa no Drone...
And Thanks Joe C that's the best explanation I seen on the (one tip is fake) statement.

No clearance issues, it does have the x cross over also has high flow aftermarket cat so the exhaust was redone from the manifolds back so that eliminated the flange match issue.
The previous owner had it installed.
The main problem is while cruising at say 2000rpm is when the drone dull drone is so prevalent which is at roughly cruising speed so very annoying! Any suggestions I've read that tip placement I guess how far they protrude from fascia makes drone different just looking for solution here!

So the center resonater has been removed?

Ok took a look at it, from manifold to the convertor is stock configuration, then a high flow convertor in factory position then the Corsa y pipe to Corsa mufflers! So just Corsa cat back and high flow Random Technologies convertor.
