1990 'Vette Second Gear Problems
Hello all,
I am learning how to drive a manual in the vette that I just purchased.
I have many family members who have driven manuals for their entire lives, especially my father who currently owns a badass 2008 Shelby Mustang GT 300. (They are teaching me how to drive)
I am having trouble with second gear. I was told by mechanics, and some family members that these Vettes might have 'weak synchros' and what not.
If I upshift from first into second in one fluid motion, then it will grind. If I hesitate in neutral for an instant, then shift into second, there is no grind.
I can't even think about downshifting, it grinds like a mother. I can only downshift if I am going 18mph or slower. Why is this?
Some info: The engine and clutch are brand new. The transmission was swapped out, but we aren't sure which one it is yet. We think it is a ZF 6 Speed
Please help.
P.S. My father has not had the chance to look at it yet.

All other gears are smooth, and work great. No slipping, no grinding, no popping out of gear. Reverse is fine too, it just requires a little more force to shift into reverse.
Also, I will post this here, and update the OP, but I found out that I was mistaken about the transmission. The transmission was swapped, and not replaced with a new one.
