First response from a C7 in my C4.

When no other explanation works, go to Fantasy Land. Maybe he just
got his butt kicked by a C4. Go all the way with this, an 84 C4!
Now doesn't that take the sting out of his wayward thumb?
As a fellow 84 pilot, I do this often.....

I don't worry to much about waving.
I might give a thumbs up if I see another Corvette and the driver sees me but most don't wave at me anyways.
Not many C4's 84-90 around here.
Most people around here that don't know about cars cant believe my car is a 86, they think its newer
I'm African American and look younger than I am so most Vette owners around here don't really pay me any attention, until they hear my new Exhaust roaring by them
I wouldn't worry about it.

You wants waves? Go to the Black Hills Corvette Rally..you'll get and give so many waves you might develop carpal tunnel syndrome Last year I talked to quite a few C6-C7 owners and everyone of them was ( I believe ) a "car guy"..if there were any posers I didn't come across them. After a very spirited run on the Iron Mt. Road I actually got a couple of compliments on how well the old C4 kept up. I didn't mention to them that there were a few moments I almost soiled myself..that'll be our little secret.

Too bad that HUGE advancement in Corvette engineering doesn't get associated with the C4. Every I have talked to says the C5 is the first vette to be able to handle and the C4 was way way behind the C5. My buddy has a C5 and we discuss the generation differences quite often, haha. He likes the C4's but its the lowest rated gen in his mind. Honestly I don't really care, I love my C4.

So here's why I find this whole concept of keeping track of who waves and who doesn't and what they drive so tedious. Let me make one disclaimer, I recognize there are some great guys driving C7's, I know many of them. Also, there are some that wave for the right reasons, good on 'em.
Here's the truth about most people that drive C7's or any nice Vette for that matter and the wave. For the most part, the are waving to acknowledge you noticed them, not necessarily because of a great camaraderie they want to share with you. It's their way of saying "I'm glad you noticed me". Face it, a good number of these C7's are being bought by a new generation, they are not interested in C4's or other Vette drivers. So to me, to want or expect a specific reaction by another guy in a Corvette is bad enough, but to let their response or lack there of be such an emotional topic of discussion doesn't make much sense either.
I'll always wave back, but that's about it.

I'm a first time Vette driver and I own a C7. I would never give anybody's car a thumbs down. I wave to all Vettes no matter what generation they are. How anybody can be so rude is beyond me.

I can echo your thoughts. After trying out some other generations I went back to the C4. It was a late C6 or another C4 and I chose my 94. The reason was simple, the C4 delivers the most for the money. If you try something new on a C4 and it doesn't turn out, no problem just fix it. Too hesitant to mess up a C6 so it becomes another garage queen. The C4 offers a great platform open to many different options. I don't need a C7 driver to wave and validate my choice either.

I don't think it would matter what generation Vette a guy like that would be driving, he would be an azzhole no matter what car he had......WW

I was working at Advance auto parts when I first got my C4 and some D-bag customer came in and said "Is that your Corvette on the side?" I said "yea", and he said "Why?, that is the worst generation, slow and junky, why would you buy that!?" I said "believe what you want to believe man" That to me was extremely rude, plus I couldn't say anything because he was a "customer" and my boss was right there but he drove a beat *** subaru wagon. I wanted to say "Look what you are driving *******!" haha Another C4 hater and I'll bet he has never even touched one, probably read online that the C4 is crap and straight up believed it. I mean I ALWAYS believe what I read on the internet......
Or as Peter Griffin once said, "I believe everything everyone tell me anywhere."
