C4 Seats
I have an 84' with the "standard" seats and I was wondering how other seats differ as far as fitment and feel? Do all C4 seats bolt in no problem? I feel like I don't fit "into" the standard seats and they don't offer much for side bolster support. I'm not a tank of a guy (5' 10", 230lbs) I just feel like I don't fit into the seat very well, more like I sit away from the bolsters a little (Pushed up from the base of the seat and forward from the seat back. I have to "mush" my way further "into" the seat if you know what I mean. Did they make the seats fit you better as the years went on? I have never sat in any other C4 than my own. Anyone have any personal experience with different seats?

Have a look at the '94-'96 seats.

IDK what seats those are. Virtually every '"late" C4 ('94-96) I've seen has those seats. IDK what the seat options are for those years though. Sorry.

Seat tracks should bolt to your floor studs w/o an issue.
The power functions, you'll have to sort out. If your car has power seats it wouldn't be too hard, if not, then you'd have to run fused power to the seat controls and make it all work and look nice. Could be done custom/DIY or w/the later model harness etc.

Swapping seats:
-Base seats will swap in any year 84-96 without issues.. the seats tracks power or manual all fit so you can reuse the tracks in your car.
-Sport seats get tricky..
going from early to late sport seats might be a challenge..
84-89 the controls are different on the console..
90-96 you can swap the 94-96 sport seat harness and controls and make it look stock or use the stick post showing how to keep the controls the same and hide the sport controller in the console box
94-96 going to earlier seats will need the earlier sport harness
Base seat swaps are the easiest to do..
I prefer the 96 sport functions with the 94 base seat style.. which is what I created:

On the original note who here has the 84-89? (Not sure what years exactly) base seats and finds them to be comfortable? Do you feel like it offers decent side bolster support? I just don't feel like they fit me correctly, but maybe it's just the way they are...

Try swaping the seat bottom from one side to the other if you can

That's exactly what I did when I recovered them. I even rebuilt the foam where it was wore out and its a stiff seat now. I must be me then; I also went from a third gen Camaro to the 84' and the seats are deff smaller in the vette. The Camaro seats are wider and have FAR less bolster support. But I have also been in a few cars (Charger SRT-8, Ram SRT-10) that have GREAT bolster support but I guess that's like comparing apples and oranges. I just don't feel like the seat fits me. Maybe I should find a set of 94-96 base seats. Do they have good side bolster support?

I've had several C4 Corvettes (87, 91, 93, 95) and I'd have to say the seats definitely improve with each generation.
The 87 seats compared to the 95 is like a park bench to a LazyBoy.
I would suggest you bide your time and look around for 93 or newer seats and put them in your car.

I have had my 1985 with standard leather seats since 1992. Really like them a lot better that the leather sport seats in my 1996 LT4. Once did a trip in the 1985 sitting in the drivers seat for 9 hour trip, one stop to get gas going home, felt very comfortable all the way. My wife likes the 1985's seats better as well.
