Default C4 Revival project

Ok, so here we go. I started with the fuel pump today only to find the gas cap rusted on. Once I got it off this is what I pulled out. Looks like I need to hunt down a new sending unit. The gas tank is in no better shape so I need to replace it as well.

Also noticed this chewed up wire in the engine bay. I'll see whether I replace it or repair it later on.

The tank should have a plastic liner, probably able to clean it. If not send me a message, I have a couple tanks and maybe a sending unit.

Facepirte, thanks. I just bought a tank, If you do have a sending unit please let me know how much you're asking for it. Shipping would be to 32720.

I just took this shot since I got curious about options. Looks like it has quite a bit, although most seem redundant. Z51 is all I know to be desirable though.

I highly recommend the stainless steel sending unit replacements that are sold by all the major Corvette parts vendors.

The wire in post #2 is for the EGR solenoid. It feeds vacuum from the throttle body to the EGR valve.

I have 2.... one is worse than yours the other is missing the piece on the bottom of the return than acts as the bottom retainer for the pump. I will get pics of it tomorrow.

Mostly. I commute there on the weekends. I'm stationed in Geogia so I'm in savannah during the week. But I'll be retiring in DeLand so my family has settled there as I count down my time.

New to me tank just arrived. A bit dusty and some surface rust so I cleaned it up and rubbed the rust down with some steel wool. I'll let it dry up for a day or two and give it a coat of Rustoleum to help keep it rust free.

With this $100 tank I am at $700 with the car. I added $100 for gas and trailer when I picked it up. Going to keep track to see how much it really costs me to get it running.

Finally had some time to work on this thing. Got the new tank in along with sending unit, pump, and filter. Couldn't get her starter but after a little trouble shooting found the fuel pressure regulator stuck shut. Took it off and lubed it up and got it freed up. Now it's getting fuel but still not starting so going to work on it a little more today to see what I come up with. The spark looks kind of weak so we'll see where that takes me.

Exhaust was pretty rusted so I scrapped it.

No jack stands? Don't wanna learn the hard way. Nice looking for the money you have into it.

Theres jack stands under there. You can see the 2x4 in one of the pics. Just had to slide them out of the way for the exhaust removal. Definitely don't want to be flattened by a car.

Thanks Paul. Unfortunately I didn't get her running this weekend. I'll be gone for a few months so she'll be sitting for a little while longer.
