C7 & C4~Betty Boop Trinity Site and White Sands, NM Run
Few days ago I took off in route to the Trinity Site, and White Sands National Park
with a C7 Z51 8 Speed Automatic. It was a great drive to NM, but it was like 500
degrees colder than California. One day was down to 25°F, now I can say that I've
been to the South Pole. It was a horrible experience to experience cold weather like
that. I had to put on a jacket
Only 70 miles to El Paso, could not link up with Frizlefrak, he was at work.
On the way there
We filled up in Casa Grande, NM. Both Vettes, same gas, same distance,
same speed-an average of 75 MPH.
335 Miles
C4: 20.3 MPG -- C7:24.5 MPG
Open Road
The plan was to visit the Trinity Site, we made it to the base's gate, but this
place is open only twice a year. Another run is in the plan.
The second fill up after 200+ miles of mountain runs.
352 Miles
C4: 21.6 MPG -- C7 24.6 MPG
If any of you are interested I found racing fuel in a Love's gas station Chandler, AZ.
No I didn't fill up with it. We know higher octane doesn't do anything productive
for cruising.

Nice looking pair!
I'm surprised the mileage is that low on the C4 - what little I've driven both the 84 and the 94 gives me more like 25-28 mpg on long trips. Maybe just a fluke?
Have fun!

This Vette has been like that. Even If I drive "normal" I may get 23 MPG max. It also has the (RPO G92) 3.07 gears.

I can squeeze about 23 and change on the highway with my LT4, but that's about tops for highway doing 70-75, so that ain't bad with the cool factor figured in! Nice Pair of Vettes! Those look like some big feet on the C4. What are those?

I think your pic of the two side by side from the rear is striking. The C7 looks positively HUGE compared to the C4. So tall and wide in the butt.
Don't get me wrong I love the C7 looks but I'll always love the correctly proportioned look of the C4. Jerry Palmer got it right. The cars have aged so well and still look fast sitting still.

I've made that trip and usually get better than 28. Thanks for sharing There are some neat trips to central New Mexico (Fort Sumner, Ruidoso, etc) I do them in the summer!

20 years from now, I'll buy someone's old, perfectly maintained low mileage C7 and die happy ..
That is certainly a beautiful pair of twins, right down to the matching color chart!

So happy to see you didnt drink the kool aid and still have your betty boop c4.
I agree with the others, the c6/7 seem huge compared to c4 - though if you compare length they arent.
I would expect a mileage improvement on c7 due to direct inj and seq fuel inj (if you have a 92-93 batch fire speed density. I cant remember what year betty boop is)
