Default Fair Price? 96 LT4 CE

Let me just say that I've never been in the C4 world. Test drove a 95 back in 2000 and LOVED it, but couldn't come to terms with the dealership selling it.

I have an opportunity at a very local (like right around the corner from me) 96 CE LT4 Corvette. It's got 53K miles on it, and is essentially pristine. Bone stock, unmolested, etc. I'm considering picking it up for a garage queen/sunny day driver.

Is $8500 a fair price for this? I can't depend on KBB, NADA, Edmunds, or the like. Just thought I'd poll the C4 guru's.

If you can buy that car for that price, you need to drive it like you stole it, because you did. If you had to pay $5k to $7.5k more, it would still be a good deal.

Just my $0.02.

Sounds (way) more than fair. Heck of a lot less than I paid for mine 5 years ago! Good luck, let us know how it goes.

Pictures would be very helpful. If the car is well cared for, has service records, everything works, the paint is good, and the interior shows light wear, $8500 is a great price. If you're not sure of what you looking at take someone with you that knows these cars as there is a lot to check that may not be so obvious to someone not familiar with the C4.
Good Luck!

Seen some automatics CE's advertised as LT4's. Check the numbers !
Way cheap for that car.

If it looks like the way a cared for 53k mile C4 is, that's a serious steal. Clean title?

If the mechanicals check out, buy it and don't even argue on the price. I sold my 94 six speed coupe with the LT1 engine in very good, but not perfect, condition in April for eight grand. Mine had 58,000 miles. Yours would have the LT4, 30 more horsepower, and two years newer. Rumor has it the LT4's dynoed at much more than 330, but Chevy underreported because it couldn't make more HP than the new incoming C5 in 97.

If it's a 96 LT4 it should be a manual, and sounds like a good price. what color is the interior?

An LT4 '96 CE with just over 50K miles and in pristine condition... for $8500?

Not only is that a good deal, that's a steal. So much so it makes me envious because that's at the top end of my current budget and I don't think I even considered affording such a car!

So, in short: Hell yeah.

Guy is ripping you off. Very uncool. Give me his address and I will go over and talk to him for you.

...yes, it's a steal.

In the last year, I've seen a couple of '96 CE coupes with 50K-ish miles in VG condition asking in the $17-19K range.

Last year, I paid $17K for my '96 CE LT-4 coupe, fully optioned, with 27K miles on it, and it was in showroom condition.

Your opportunity sounds like a very good deal, assuming it is a real LT-4. As long as everything checks out, Go for it!

At face value it almost seems like one of those "too good to be true" deals, but if the car checks out mechanically, cosmetically and if you can have it inspected for any previous body damage and it passes...then yes I agree with everyone else...cut the check and drive it home

If the car is at described jump on it. Sounds too good to be true but if it is awesome.

I agree, it sounds too good to be true. I almost wonder if he was asking "is this a fair offer" instead of price.
