Police: Man Drives Corvette Into Delaware River Over Divorce Dispute

http://www.myfoxphilly.com/story/27346823/rescue

SkyFOX was live over the Delaware River near the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge for a report of a car in the water. Rescue crews were called around 4:15 p.m. on Monday.

Teams used a crane to lift a 1990 Corvette out of the water. Police say the car was driven into the river due to a bitter divorce dispute. According to police, the male driver drove the car into the water, then got out after before the vehicle submerged, and took off.

Police are currently searching for the driver. Police say the man's wife saw the report on FOX 29 and called police. Authorities have not released the identity of the man.

Evidently he didn't want his wife to get the car OR maybe he was washing it off for her so she can go cruising. He must have a BIG heart!!!

Bitter end for a Corvette and a marriage but just the beginning for several legal charges and fines. This will be one very expensive divorce.

Reminds me of Burt Reynolds in the Longest Yard; the remake doesn't count.....

Drove his girlfriends Ferrari in the lake and they found him in the bar thereafter with his clever line to the police- "it needed a wash"....

That man now faces charges of at the very minimum reckless endangerment and possible environmental fines.

About the same as a 25mph over the limit speeding ticket... but a non-moving violation

Not necessarily...It depends on the car..

Maybe her BF wanted the car so hubby dealt with it...

They're going to charge him with reckless endangerment because they claim it was dangerous for the officers to go into the water to see if anyone was in the car and for the divers to see if anyone was at the bottom of the river.

But gee, if that's the case then I guess our tax dollars should stop paying them.

That's part of the job. If they don't like doing it, they shouldn't have joined the force.

I dont think he should be charged with a crime. Fined yes. The poor guy is suffering enough. And his insurance company will not be paying him a dime either. Whats scary is I wonder if this Corvette will end up being on someones used car lot. As I understand things there are ways around carfax?

Well, when we sell salvage cars the state requires us to inform the customer of its salvage history and why it was salvage. After we do all that people still ask for a carfax....

Most people don't trust car salesmen anymore. I think too many people have heard stories from others about how all car salesmen will tell you anything to sell a car and blindly believe it is completely true.
