Default help newbie. new battery and now radio doesnt work

I just got a 1994 vette. after I replaced the battery the radio now just makes a buzzing sound. does the radio have a security lock on it? how do I reset it? I have read on here that c5 and up have it and how to reset it. nothing for the c4.

any help would be great

Default 1996

I disconnect the battery all the time on my 1996 LT4 when I am not going to be driving it for a week or more, never has affected the radio since 1996 except for the loss of the pre-set radio stations.

Paul,

I highly respect your input on this forum, thank you.

I've been a maintenance electrician/mechanic all my life. You always look for the obvious and easiest first, as that will usually resolve the problem.

We parked the wife's '92 in a storage area abouts 10 miles away last year, as it was "secure" and relatively cheap. No outlets to connect a tender, so I disconnected the battery. When we brought her out this spring, it exhibited the exact same issue the OP described. I mean't no disrespect to the OP, just trying to help a fellow C4 owner...

I was thinking that. When you remove the power to the radio you lose all the presets.

ok I just realized the antenna isn't going up. and the buzzing sound from radio.... might be amps not turning on??

fuses look ok

everything seems to work on the radio. just buzzing sound and antenna not going up. sound doesn't go up and down as you turn volume ****.

what speakers have built in amp and what ones don't. if I cant figure it out I will replace the radio. but would rather keep stock....

Hi Jay if the antenna went up and down before its gotta be a bad fuse and you can't always tell by looking if a fuse is bad there are multiple fuses for the radio/antenna but I don't have my fsm with me to give you more info on which fuses to replace Jay
