corsa muffler wanted for experiment
Does anyone have an old corsa muffler they're willing to donate (I'll gladly cover shipping)? I'd like to have a local exhaust shop try to weld the stock LT1 rectangular steel single exhaust tip to a SS Corsa dual tip muffler. I know it will be difficult, but I'm not volunteering my good Corsa one.
It would be awesome if someone had even a broken one laying around. I'd be happy to post the results of the try here on CF.
I know many of you will disagree, but I really like the stock LT1 tips over the chrome Corsa tips (to each his own). The look of the stock LT1 tips coupled with the sound of Corsa is the perfect combination in my opinion.

I have a ZR-1 Corsa Cat-Back system in my attic for sale. $400
The mufflers are the same.

That is the $64,000 question, and the reason for a guinea pig muffler. The point is to have a custom exhaust place try it, and experiment. Maybe they'll be successful. Maybe they won't. But we won't know until we try, and I don't want the exhaust shop trying on my good Corsa muffler.

I've seen it done. It needs to be done by a fabricator, and to be tig welded for a clean seam. An expensive cosmetic project for sure. Personally I think the round mufflers fit the C4's (91-96) rear fascia better than the rectangular tips, but that is my opinion.

Long time ago Corsa had other options for C4s. They used to offer a 2.7 system, but the C4 market is old news. Once their sales go below cost effectiveness the Corsa system will be a thing of the past.

it would be easier to cut the big tips off and have something similar fabbed up by a metal guy. The LT1 tips' metal is rolled in a little around the edges compared the the aftermarket "LT1" tips. Way easier and shouldnt affect sound much Id think. The tip would be a little longer to the muffler but wouldnt stick out any farther than stock Id think and would hide the pipes
Something similar to the pic.
