Sorry, but the c4 vette is a toy only, good weather, good roads, short trips.
Since 2000 I've driven my '88s on 3-8hr trips all year around and they have felt rock solid and a real joy...

I'm going to Los Angeles September 3rd to pick up my dad at LAX. He flys in from Asia where he's lived for 13+ years. So happy to see him again. Anyway this trip is a 1000 miles to and from Gilbert AZ. I plan on leaving at 8am and getting to Venice around 1pm. You have to take restroom breaks ! I've done this trip before in my C4 and it's a comfortable trip. Dodging the law and hunting for the best gas prices in CA are the only issues. I can remember going 85mph after Riverside CA and a CHP closing in on me or so it seemed. He simply blew by me and kept going. Over 90 mph and he just cruised on. I've described the insane speeds on Los Angeles freeways before on here. A real test of nerves. I plan on taking him up north of Malibu for a nice drive. Can't wait.

There are areas where you can kick it up.
But coming in with a red Corvette AND with out-of-state plates makes you a nice mark for some revenue.
Just a thought, 5MPH over the limit is $300 now.
So we can make a call to the CHP to help them along.
AZ tag number 1988C4 9/3 Hwy 5 west bound, morning shift... No problem bro
Just kidding.
The "Gas Buddy" app for smart phones is darn good when looking for decent fuel prices.

gas buddy is an excellent app! You can see the price and how long ago the price was entered. You can see it by octane and use either a text format or a map that can scroll. Other than weather bug & drudge report, its my favorite app.

if you think a C4 is bad on a long road trip, try taking one in a C3 - . comparing a C4 to the C5/C6, is apples and oranges! I've done 2000 mile road trips in a C3, C4's C5's and a C6. newer IS better, but it's not a day and night difference, unless you're talking anything older than the C4. for a 20-30 year old touring car, the C4 is not all that bad, and I would not hesitate taking my C4's cross country. for the C4, you just need to pack lighter and smarter. I would NEVER take another C3, especially an early C3 on another long distance road trip. while I'm partial to C4's, IMO, the absolute best long distance touring car would be a C5 coupe.
