Things to look for at Carlisle
Hey y'all, Im a former forum lurker. Anyway I am going to Carlisle show with some family. They are all old school corvette guys, I am relatively new to vette's as far as ownership and working on them. I have an '86 Auto Z51 and was curious if there were any items I should keep an eye out for while I am looking through the vendors area (used and new if its going to be good deal there).
Thanks for your help, hopefully I will be talking you guys up more

Wow...where to start! It really takes a few days to take it all in and see everything. I assume since you are going with friends/family that you won't be taking your 'Vette? I would highly recommend you take it if that is an option, and just stop by vendor services on your way in. Get the funfield pass, and you and a passenger can get in for free each of the 3 days. Park right with all the other Corvettes, and really be right in the middle of it all. But if that isn't an option, you are still in for an incredible experience. I don't think there is a better Corvette experience in the world!
I would recommend you make a list of parts you need (I just put mine into the NOTE app on my smartphone). When I say a list, I mean ANYTHING you need, even if it is a new window switch. You will run across most things on your list if you are looking for them. I will be honest and tell you that if you are looking for an exceptional deal on a certain part, you probably won't find it at Carlisle. Vendors there often, but not always price as if they have gold for sale. You may have better luck finding a part in the forum here, or on ebay, etc... if you are searching for the best price. If the best price or deal isn't your priority, you will leave with a car load of parts. You WILL find a little bit of everything, and parts that you didn't know even existed. And you will find more parts in one place than you could ever imagine. In particular, there is a major vendor (can't remember the name of the company) that usually sets up shop in a big tent at the very bottom of the hill close to the car corral, near the are of Building T. This vendor has a good supply of reproduction C4 parts, more than any other vendor there.
Take sun screen, sunglasses, and comfortable shoes, and a backpack to carry smaller parts in, and enjoy the spectacle! Also, the food at the food court is awesome, but pricey... I always carry some water or Gatorade in with me in my backback, along with some snacks. The money I save on drinks goes right to my parts fund!

I don't mean to be a killjoy but you had better watch the weather forcast and adjust accordingly..As of now they're calling for thunderstorms both days, maybe not enough rain to cancel a trip, but enough to make you take rain gear with you......WW

Looking pretty good now for the weather... but I will wait until Wed/Thurs to see the real deal. Originally they were forecasting temps in the 90s on Saturday, and now things look much more comfortable...

Corvette America will be there as a big sponsor of the event, I have ordered a ton of parts off them for my 92' c-4 and never had a problem. If your looking for it, it will be there! Enjoy, I will. I just work a block and a half away from the main gate. Just saw the weather from Harrisburg on channel 27, Saturday and Sunday are to be great weather, most of this week we have a chance of thunder storms in the afternoon, late evening. Typical august weather.
