Car game....
A good friend of mine used to do this thing where we would call or text each other when we had "sightings". Started off w/exotic cars...if he saw an F430 driving around, for example, I might get a text about that "sighting".
That changed, as after a while... a F430 is a F430. You see them, they're all the same...IDK. Sick car, but as a "sighting"..."meh". So it turned into rare/weird/unique cars became "sighings". A mint condition "Bandit Trans Am". A very clean Lumina Z34 (how many of those do you see??), A Dodge Omni towing a 20' boat...a Nissan at an autox that put a rod on the asphalt. You can see what direction this is going.
Once we began to "recognize" clean/weird/odd ****-boxes as "sightings", a new game emerged: If you could have either car a fill in the blank junker or a fill in the blank POS, and (the next part is always the same) you had to drive it, couldn't sell it or modify it...which would you pick? The catalyst for the game was seeing some total POS car that you rarely see....a car that you see and go, oh yeah! I remember those things....they SUCKED! So next time we'd get together, it would be "game on", that car that you saw, vs. some other car -the losing car from a previous game for example. The idea being to pick two cars so wretched, that the answer is "neither"...but you can't say that, of course.
If you could have either car a '83 AMC Eagle wagon or a '84 Dodge Rampage, you had to drive it, couldn't sell it or modify it...which would you pick?
Anyway, these cars aren't wretched at all, they're awesome, but the context of the article brought me back to the old game. This is the same thing. Can't sell 'em, have to drive them (daily), can't modify them (at least not to the point where they're "something else"),....
WHICH WOULD YOU PICK?

The Eagle wagon, those things were cool !
Oh, wait, you mean between the Vettes ?
ZR1, everyday, and twice on Sundays. You can't beat the coolness factor of that engine !

At this point in life, I'd opt for pushrods - thirty years ago it would have been DOHC, hands down.
As far as the AMC wagon and the Dodge Rampage - depends if you like indoors or are a nature person. You can have sex in both but only the Rampage offers it under the stars! LOL! SOHC this time!
Peace folks -

I used to think it would be cool to put an AMC 360 or 401 in an Eagle. The ultimate AWD Sleeper-winter-beater!

In the article?
I'd rather have the GS. Lighter, only 30 ponies less, very mod friendly.
Also it's the only one of the newer bodies that I prefer to the old ones like my 89.
Now if I really had free reign....
I'd take an 89 Callaway, without the aerobody kit.

It seems like the "gold standard" for ****-boxes was the K car. This vs. a K car. That vs. a K car. I remember one game I posed to my friend was a Renault Alliance vs. a K car. Ew.
If you could just drop a 2.2 Turbo/stick drivetrain into the K-car...it would be infinitely better/more livable! Can't do that though. Gotta live with ~100 hp and a 3 speed auto (if you were to choose that car, for example)

Good call! It's so easy to get "off track"; if you could jsut do this or that to some cars, they'd be SO much better and more tolerable. That V8 in the Eagle for example. But yeah, gotta pick based on how it is, as is.

Yeah that's a real stinker of a choice.

Chevette vs K Car.
I'd take the Chevette and hate every minute of it!
