Painting is no good, the best repair i have seen is a guy that put a carbon fibre look trim on his cracked targa in the color of his car.
That would be the only option, otherwise get a new roof panel.

Hi

Painting the clear targa roofs doesnt work, as i said before the carbon fibre contact is the best i have seen. You can select your carbon fibre color and apply over the targa roof panel after it has been cleaned, plus it looks good.

The painted targa' s you have seen are fibreglass, they come with a fibre glass roof for Summer and a acrylic for winter.

Default why can't we paint plastic targa tops??

Sorry I know this is a few months old, but I thought I'd bump this because my bro and I just bought an 85 bright red and it's translucent targa top is ratched up and cracked.

gerardvg you don't seem to think this can be done...i have seen plastic painted successfully and I am curious as to why it cannot be done??

correct prep + can of bright red duplicor match paint + wetsand + clear coat and why wouldn't this work?

I think the carbon looks pretty good too actually, but I am not sure I could match the 85's 'bright red' color with it.

Cheers all and I am looking to hear from people who have either seen this attempted or have done it themselves.

Later,

VikingTrad3r.
