Default Barn Find C4 For A New Corvette Owner

Hello all!

My name is Jonathan and I am new to the forums here, and I have to say it is very impressive! I recently found an 85' C4 on craigslist a month or two ago that was sitting in a widows garage for over 12 years! I was urging to get into the wonderful world of the Corvette ever since I saw one and this was it! My main vehicle is a 2003 Hummer H2 that is my baby, but I needed something with speed that could give me a good time and the C4 was that corvette! The car was in decent shape, it wasn't running until I changed the oil, and battery but other than that It started up! It has a slight oil leak that I am still trying to figure out, and I have replaced countless number of parts to try and solve it but no dice yet. I also got the chance to drive the NEW C7 on the California speedway a couple weeks ago and being a videographer I had to film it! If you're interested in seeing it I have it posted on my profile in the other thread. Here is a picture of my new baby1 She still needs some cosmetic work (interior etc.) But overall I love this car to death!

Nice Car. One thing you will learn is that on our C4's it's really NOT a good idea to throw parts at the car in an attempt to solve an issue.

There are many many very knowledgeable folks on this forum that love to help other Vette owners. If you describe your problems in detail (and pictures always help) you will get many helpful suggestions from folks who have solved that issue previously

Welcome!

You live in Laguna, why aren't you driving a C7, or a Ferrari or something big $?!

The valve cover gaskets leak on the early cars, wouldn't hurt to replace those as well.

Looks good! Congrats on your first one. Beware, I've had three of them follow me home and they don't want to leave my garages.

Not to many knowledgeable mechs out there for early TPI engines.
You might try asking here first.
