Default opinions on this possible purchase

I've been seriously looking for a 40th anniversary edition Ruby Red. for about three months.Either junk or way too high.I give up.So I'm going to look and try out a 1992 red convertible.
Seller has sent a bunch of pictures, which look good.Tried to upload, wouldn't go through. This guy is the second owner and has owned it for over five years.Says body and interior are excellent condition.Got to look close to find any chips. No spider cracks.Guy says it is ready to go ,needs nothing.
Here is part of the description:

1992 Chevy Corvette Conv't -*-*- V8 Lt-1 350/300 hp. , 4 spd.Auto. ,70,000 miles , Gleaming Red w/ new white conv't top, awesome red leather Pwr. sport seats , Bose stereo system , ice cold A/C , new master cyl. and brakes , new Opti spark Dist. this week w / hoses , newer chrome C5 wheels and Goodyear Eagle F1 tires ,car grips corners like running on rails . these years get the best gas mileage too.. Well maintained and serviced , always garaged ,,,. Cleaning out the garages so highly motivated for serious offers now ! ...$10,000.00 ,, Or best offer now!!!

I've talked to the guy twice and he made it clear he is a motivated seller.Without insulting him I thought I'd Offer $8,500 and go from there? Also the car check came back good.Any thoughts?

Like i'm from Canada i don't know your local market , i know that generaly the car are most expensive here that in USA. With a LT1 and convertible i think that it's good +++.

Personnally i will offer 8000$ anyway it's sure that the seller will go with a another price (i don't know the right word lol) the sale will probably go between 8500/9000$. At this price i think that it's a really nice buy.

Sorry for my english again !

I guess the term would be -counter offer-.Yep, once you give a offer you can't go lower....
Thanks,Tony

Just my 0.02, but I always try to stay away from the first year of anything, new engine, trans suspension etc. There are others here with more firsthand knowledge of the 91's that could speak more to this however. Otherwise the price seems pretty fair, go with cash and do not be afraid to walk away. You will be amazed how many cars I have bought for waaaaaaaaaaaay under asking by showing up with my trailer and a roll of cash. I can have this out of your driveway in 15 minutes.

yes counter offer haha !

You can guees something by asking his best price at phone, we will see what appen if he tell 9900$ the chance that you can buy it for 8500$ are almost impossoble but if he tell 9000$ go to see the car, don't show him that you are really interrested and ask to see the car. Talk with him, try to find negative point do not denigrate the positive point , tell him that the car are not so bad but you have spotted 3-4 other car too. Make the pression on the seller. You the seller see that you really want the car he will not lower the price because i know that whatever the price you will buy it.

Good luck and hope to see some picture of this car soon

Not a Ruby but this may give you an idea of what I consider a good deal. Kinda far from you but price wise is about market. A patient man will get the good deal. Dont get carried away with one car, there are more out there.

just did a quick CL look for chicago area of 92 vettes.
most seem to be in 7000-12000 range, few convertables...
there was one at 18000 in red (didn't say ruby red), it was a , convertable, odometer was under 18K...
another was listed as firemist plum (looked red to me), convert, 10500 miles, listed at 24900

just giving you some "what's out there" in the big city area near me.
good luck!

Default New Car

Looks great. If the condition matches the description and you got it for a price you can live with - you did good. Congrats.
