Default 87 corvette

Hello new to the forum. Been lurking for a bit and found lots of good info. But now I need someone's expertise. There is a guy here locally in ohio who is selling an 87 as an edelbrock edition car. I have never heard of this but I am not as well versed on these. It is basically all edelbrock shocks etc... can anyone inform me on this car??

I've owned a 1987, never heard of an "Edelbrock Edition". What does the "etc" include?

I found this:
http://www.carid.com/1987-chevy-corv...-17638142.html

Who did the work? How long ago? How many miles on the car? What's the asking price?

Apparently all the control arms suspension parts basically top to bottom is stamped/labeled edelbrock. Never heard of or seen anything like it.

Not a bad price for a rag top, Edelbrock or not.

lowest price I have seen for a vert in a while( in decent shape). I have an Eldebrock intake and runners..cost you a thousand bucks to do the same.

After looking at the pics, I would suggest you keep looking. With the radio out, there is no way to verify that it works or that the speakers/amps are OK. Looks like some wear and tear on the seat covers and that can cost at least $1K or maybe more for new covers and foam.

The engine pic shows a couple things; the MAF sensor is installed upside down Not sure why somebody would do that but if it runs... But it could easily be contacting the hood and that can cause it to eventually break. The brake master cylinder reservoir looks pretty nasty. Do you know how good the brake are??

The passengers side tire looks like it's nearly bald on the inside. Bad alignment, bad suspension, and probably an old tire.

Looking just past the HEI distributor cap, there a yellow wire nut at the end of a wire . that's for household electrical wiring, not for automotive electrical wiring. Looks like the owner did a coolant bypass on the throttle body and used about a foot more of hose that needed.

And there's no wiper arm on the driver's side

Carefully check out the condition of the weatherstripping. It can be very expensive to replace 'vert weatherstripping

Maybe the price is decent for a convertible, but I think this one may cost that much more to get it into good shape. For $10K there are a lot of later C4 'verts in very good condition.

Hard to tell but are there a lot of scratches in the paint?
I would keep looking. The more of them you look at the more you will learn. You might come back to this one later as it will probably still be there.

I drove the car the brakes are great. Runs really good and strong. The seats seem to be mostly be dirty. It does have a small spot on the passenger seat about dime size that shows were. The seller has came down to 2800.00 probably gonna buy it it is over all in good shape runs fantastic.. it out of alignment so that should correct the tire issue

There are a pot of scratches, but my buddy has a paint shop that I use so that part really isn't a big deal. Basically a 12 pack and the weekend we will have to done.

Also I really appreciate all the help, you guys have been great.

All the Edlebrock edition Corvettes came with those big SS emblems on the side. Just a note. There was never a "Edelbrock Edition" Corvette produced from GM.

Those are factory intake runners.
The lower intake manifold if you look close you'll be able to see Edelbrock written on it. If it doesn't have that, then it's probably a completely stock intake.

If the owner throws in the can of Busch that's sitting on the ragtop in your second picture, you'll only need five more cans for your buddy.

That's a red flag to me. I'd wonder how many other things will need to be corrected.

I think they changed them to one reservoir in 1986. Non the less, the brake fluid looks terrible. Very dirty.
