I went to advanced auto and picked up a tube of permatex black gasket maker to seal the front and rear china walls on my 90. 4 or 5 months now and at least 1K miles without issues. lots of people around here like to use "the right stuff."

Yea I saw a few post about "the right stuff." but didn't see it at the local auto parts store or know how good it would lay down.

pretty sure I've seen it at autozone. I've never used it, but from what I understand its fast acting, that is, it sets up in minutes VS RTV fully cured in 24 hours. personally, I work slow, and like the long cure times of RTV silicone.

Yes, the Right Stuff by Permatex. You can put things together and not have to wait for it to cure like silicone. It also cleans up with lacquer thinner which silicone does not.

I've used "The Right Stuff" and it's probably the best gasket maker/sealer I've ever used. It takes a tacky set pretty quickly so it doesn't run or sag all over the place, but doesn't get so stiff that you can't work with it. It's a pretty good glue too as it really sticks to stuff. Wear some nitrile gloves when working with it! if you get it on you it spreads like crazy when you try to wipe it off and it stains your fingers for days. Other than the mess you might make with it if you're not careful, it's really great stuff and it's good to go as soon as you tighten the parts together.

I used the right stuff from autozone for my intake last month. Fantastic stuff to work with, you can set a nice bead very easily and then slap the intake back on. Btw, the right suff doesn't actually cure that fast but it is stiffer then regular rtv so it won't sag and run, it didn't set up all the way until like 15 hrs after; it was still soft and pliable and didn't want to risk throwing oil at fresh rtv. So, I waited 24 hrs before changing the oil and filling it up and running it.

with using "The Right Stuff", I don't use RTV anymore for doing the china walls since I discovered this product......It's a rubber, not a silicon...WW

I'm surprised the dealer didn't offer you 12378521 sealer OR did you decline it?

They did offer something they said replaced it but it wasn't 12378521 anyway they said they had 6 tubes of it and when I got there 30 minutes later they said they were out of it anyway I ended up using the right stuff.

I've always used Right Stuff for the China Walls and A thin film of Ultra Blue for the rest of the gasket. The Right Stuff is like glue and makes intake removal difficult if it's used for the whole gasket.
