Default What's your gas mileage on L98??

On my 1991 vert, I am seeing about 18 MPG. That's a bit lower than I expected, but wondering what everyone else sees.

I do about 50% highway and 50% "pleasure" driving. I am calculating the mileage by miles driven between fill-ups divided by the gals needed to fill.

I was hoping it would be at least in the low 20s, but pretty much every calculation for the first 2,000 miles has been around 18.

Thanks for the feedback.

Went and checked dashboard computer and it says 20.3 average. But all my driving is a pleasure so I just keep feeding her what she needs.

I average 22.7 at my last calculation.
If I keep my foot out of it.

If I don't well....

That average MPG gauge is a little funny. It takes a long time to update your average MPG. The most I got mine up to was like 19 when it was stock. Now with all my mods and the way my foot is now, I'm getting around 7.5 MPG average...

Interesting, that MPG gauge usually reports over 20MPG, but based on my calculations I don't believe it. Does anyone know how the gauge does its calcuations? I'm assuming they are estimates.

I have both an 88 and a 91. The 88 has the 2.xx rear gears and usually gets high teens in town and I have seen 30+ on the highway based on tune.

The 91 has 3.07 rear and I just did a 4600 mile drive with MPH between 75 and 80 (west Texas). It averaged 23.92 mpg (window sticker says 24 for high side) for the entire trip. In town I see mostly mid to hi teens.

(90 coupe, automatic, standard gears) - I would guess 17-18 average, city/highway. I have never got the mileage other people claim to get with their corvettes. to be honest, i don't pay much attention to it anymore. when it needs gas, i stop for gas. it's still a daily driver, but lately, I'm just not driving it that much. last year, barely put 3000 miles on it.

I get over 20mpg on the freeway if I keep my RPM's under 2000. City driving I average 17-18mpg but then again it is all about the rpm's. I have the Comp Cam 08-501-8, modified air intake, exhaust and 24lb Bosch injectors.

The last time I reset my average was about a year ago. It shows 16.7 mpg. I dont drive a lot even tho its my DD. The trip to work is about 6-7 miles of surface streets and about the same on interstate and expressway. Road trippin is always 22-25 depending if I am on interstate or secondary roads. I would think it would be around 28 IF I drove 55-60 on interstate for a good ways. I am happy with it. Most folks dont believe it gets that good a mileage.

fun per gallon...I like it....

The VA recently told me not to make any long term plans....since i've got it fixed up, running good, a real tire smoker, when I drive it, going to drive it like I stole it until it or I fall apart....luckily for the general public, hardly ever drive it......just polish it.....

The computer knows the size of the injectors, the pressure and the pulse width.

With those figures the computer can easily get an average.

I drove to Mineral Wells and back to autocross. Averaged 32 mpg on the highway, calculated for the weekend was still about 27 mpg with 21 runs for the weekend, PLUG the highway mileage.

Best I get now with the motor mods is about 27 mpg...but it pulls like a train.

Mines in the same realm, and that includes some good stomping time on the pedal - strictly to clear out the carbon, you understand.
