Default Roof Tool

My 1995 Coupe did not come with the roof removal tool. Any suggestions on if there is another tool I can use/or purchase one? I am also looking for a new passive key entry fob and ideas where I can get one for less than $135?

Thanks

Go down to your local auto parts store and buy a torx wrench set. I bought one at Auto zone some years ago for about 6 bucks. All sizes come in a fold down holder just like a allen wrench set. The largest size in the set fits the roof bolts. I don't remember the number of the size that fits the roof but it works perfectly. That's what I use all the time rather than a 1/4 inch socket with a torx bit in the socket.

You checked inside the back of console - it has a tendency to blend in. If it is not there - IIRC it should be a T40 torx. You can get a folding set like this at Autozone or other places -

Or buy the tool on Ebay -

I just use a standard socket wrench with a short extension and a torx 45.

Harbor Freight has a long torx set (about 6 in) for about $10.

If you go with just using a torx socket, make sure the torx section is long enough to reach. When I tried, I found some of my torx sockets were too big a diameter to go into the hole to let the torx engage.

I finally got the OEM wrench and keep it in the console. Pretty cheap, they work, and original.

There are plenty of Corvette part supply places that sell the tool you need. It fits nicely in the center console for easy storage and access.
Here is an example

P.S. After you remove the top be prepared for a wobbly ride. The targa top is a structural part of the car. The front end is going to 'bounce' around, this is normal and not much fun to experience. Enjoy the open sky view!
