Not only that but they drive on the wrong side of the car

A Few years ago one of the members of my Corvette club sold his C6 Z06 to a gentleman from Sydney. The car sold for around $48K, there were shipping costs to get the car home, the usual duty fees and taxes, then another $50K to convert the car to RHD. The seller got pictures of the car as it went through the conversion process. Really huge undertaking.

to buy a late model corvette over here you are looking at $140k plus depending on the model. crazy prices once you factor in the conversion and compliance costs as you mention above.

LHD is allowed depending on the age of the car and the type of registration/permit you want for your car, this varies from state to state in Australia.
My 88 is LHD and is on club permit plates.

Gotta Love the H plates in Victoria. Cant argue with $70 rego per year!

Bandit1977, how do go sourcing parts locally in AUS? Any recommendations, especially in VIC?

Good question, to be honest I've sourced most of my parts online from the USA. The only parts that I can recall getting locally have been your typical generic parts like a fuel pump and the serpentine belt.
For the belt I just crossed referenced the part number until I came up with a Dayco replacement that was stocked by Bursons.
With the fuel pump, I found a EFI specialist supplier and they determined that my Vette shared the same pump as the V8 VP, VR, VS Commodore and I think also the turbo VL, I bought a Delphi pump for $99 bucks.
Even a Felpro gasket kit for the intake assembly was cheaper to buy and ship from Summit then buying it here in Oz.

Hi there are several places in Australia to get parts for corvettes.

Although they know that they have you by the ***** if you need a part urgently, so will cost more but you can get Corvette parts from pontiworld next day. They are very helpful.

There are Corvette car clubs in Melbourne and Geelong, i am a member of Corvettes of Melbourne. Any help or information you need we can help.

Looks like you need wheel adapters
the 84-87 wheels have 38 MM offset.
the 88-96 wheels have 56 mm offset so they sit in further on early C4's.

Yon will need some inch adapters to get the wheels to sit when they should.

Nothing wrong with adapters, they bolt onto the hubs and your 88-96 wheels bolt on title adapters. I have them on my 85 for 10 years.

have started piecing together the stereo system for the car which i plan to install over the next few weeks.

System consists of the following:

Alpine CDE-147BT headunit
JL Audio C2 6inch splits for front stage
JL Audio 6x9 3 ways for rear hatch (already has 6x9's there)
Alpine MRX 5 Channel Amp
JL Audio 12inch sub in box (this will eventually be replaced with a custom box install down the track to save space)

Should liven up the cab nicely over whats in it now!!! Bring on Summer cruising.

Ain't nothing wrong with that car!! I was wondering, since you drive on the wrong side of the road, is the gas tank mounted on the wrong side also???? LMAO!
Good luck and have fun with your new toy!

finally made a start on the stereo installation this week. time consuming process but its taking shape and hopefully in a week or so everything will be finished off and running.

started off with the new headunit install. Alpine headunit with bluetooth.

out with the old

wired up the new harness to existing loom connnections

new headunit dummy mounted including 3 sets of rcas run from the rear. didnt want to finish it off as ill most likely need to pull it out again as the rest of the install unfolds.

RCA Leads and remote wire for amp being run down the side of the console

Now for the component speakers in the Doors. JL Audio C2 Evolution 6".
Pulled the door trims off and removed factory bose speaker housings to give me access to the inner door an enable me to run speaker wires through the factory door loom and also mount the crossovers on the inside of the door panel. I used the existing aftermarket speaker pods that were on the doors and modified them to mount the tweeters.

Also fixed the courtesy lights while the trims were off.

Removed battery to give me access to the firewall and have used a factory grommet to run the power for the amplifier. Also mounted up the inline fuse and have started fitting the new battery terminals.

Next on the agenda is to run the power cable from the front footwell to the rear of the car in preparation for mounting the Amp.

Still havent decided on where to mount the amp but im leaning towards inside the storage bin on the right hand side. only issue is working out how to get the cables in there.

another update on the stereo install.

Everything is in and running. only requires fine tuning with the amp now to get the sound 100%. I have had to wind down the rear speakers dramatically as they were too loud and effecting front stage. have come to the conclusion though that this is complete overkill for the cabin size in the C4. Sub cranks and the whole system is very loud.

New battery terminals installed

Headunit installed

Sub and Amp..Sub will eventually be replaced with a slim line unit and box but for now this will do.
