has anyone with a stock lt1 ran a stock
grand national. Just wonder as a part of my other post on best quarter mile times for a lt1. I know anymore its tough to find a totaly stock grand national to run against. I would have to guess it would be a hell of a race. I know back in the day I made short work out of stock l98 vettes and camaros. Mine wasnt totaly stock but just had an k&N intake, a cat back and a chip. Even vettes with simular mods werent a problem. Now im not saying Id leave them in the dust but never lost to one in the quarter or at any stop light battle.

never raced a stock one but from what I've seen they 60ft better then an LT1 but that's about it, I remember driving in my friends that was stock it did not feel any faster then my 87 Vette and definitely not as fast as my stock 94 out on the highway. Stock they ran high 13's-low 14's. LT1's high-mid 13's.

Back in the day I recall pure stock GN's running 14.2s in 85F temps (Central Fla)
Minor mods were mid 13s. Tires and max boost (what ever that was at the time for a "bolt on") was 12.8s
You could really tell the difference in how they ran the first 100ft. Stock looked slow. Guys with mild mods were noticably quicker.

I had an '86 T-Type and when it was stock I did a few rolling starts against a friends LT1 6 speed '96 Z28. They were very close.
Sorry, but I never took that car to a track, so I can't give 1/4 mile times.

I know there used to be a You Tube vid of a late C4, maybe 92-6...that had a G.N. engine in it..and it was a handful...showed it running from the water box on a drag strip and it was a monster..curious if the video is still out there..

I have both, a '87 that's stock, and my '95. Only ran 3 passes with the GN, best of 13.9. I haven't run the C4 yet. The Buick is stronger down low, and the Vette is better with top end speed. A few minor mods, and the GN would run away. But I prefer to keep it stock.

thats kind of my impression. i think my old gn would walk on my lt1 for the first 1/8 then i think the lt1 would roll by. That said there was never a car cheaper to make run in the low 12s then a gn. A grand of bolt ons would do it easily and might even tickle high 11s. With its boxy shape its hard cut through the wind on the top end though. they were real torquey cars though and if you didnt know better youd swear there was a big block under the hood.
