Top mistakes people make with their cars
Hey guys,
I am trying to make a video of the top mistakes people make with their cars. I know while driving the vette I take extra care to make sure I dont do stuff like:
1) Starting their car and driving immediately
2) Pushing your car hard before it warms up
I am trying to think of other things people do that isnt good...
Here is my list so far:
1) Starting their car and driving immediately
2) Pushing your car before it warms up
3) Filling up with premium when you don’t need it
4) Cleaning your car wrong
5) Changing your oil every 3000 miles
6) Tire inflation (too much, too little)
7) Don’t inspect your car when you get in (be realistic, tires, oil, brakes, etc)
Any ideas?
Thanks

Driving around town like your car has 1,000hp ALL THE TIME.
Acting like your car is some unbeatable 1,000hp beast making you better than everyone else.
Just drive your Corvette and be personable.

Don't wash your car in direct sunlight on a hot, sunny day.
Don't spray the engine if you have an LT1 or LT4.
Make sure your targa top is secured after putting it back on.
Don't leave the dome lights in the "On" position when you park it.
Don't let anyone else drive your Corvette.

Bad moves
Not lubing things like ball joints regularly or checking those boots.
Not checking under the chassis every so often or tightening/checking to insure nothing is loose till it falls off.
Kind of ties in with inspections, check that all your lights are working.
Changing out the cooling system and brake fluid on a regular basis.
Make sure the convertible top is locked down before hitting the highway.
Repeatedly run the gas tank low so the fuel pump is exposed and repeatly overheats or plan on an expensive replacement on some vehicles.
I do disagree on the 3K oil changes. I've always maintained a 3K schedule for oil and filter changes on all my vehicles. I feel it's the lifeblood of the engine and the cleaner it is the longer it will go without problems. My last truck had 215K on the engine and the valve covers hadn't even been off when I sold it.

Having unrealistic expectations (expect 20 RWHP by buying an exhaust system).
Installing neon lights on Corvettes.
Not leaving painting, window tinting, and mechanical jobs to professionals.
Buying cheap parts, cheap tires, and cheap lubricants.
Not reading the owners manual.

Not Changing brake fluid...and other fluids.
Not treating leather regularly.
Waxing car in the sun.
Not changing wiper blades until they come apart and damage the W/S.
Replacing headlights and other light rather than fixing them.
Buying a hanes or other aftermarket manual.
Leaving tools on the hood when closing it..ouch!
Oh and adding too much blinker fluid.

The Corvette allows you the immediate power to avert a crash. I speak from experience. The blue hair's are often unable to see what is up ahead in traffic and all too often people speed creating dangerous scenarios.
I change my oil every 3000 miles. Castrol 20W-50 K&N 2002 oil filter. If anything I could go 3500 miles. How is this bad for my car ?

Biggest mistake for many drivers is to start the engine, as they are incompetent behind the wheel...
Another error is having "blind spots" for which there is NO excuse. With three mirrors properly adjusted there are no blind spots.
