Default New Tires

Just bought 4 new BFGoodrich g-Force Sport COMP-2 tires for my 85. I just noticed my current tires we made in the first week of 2004.

255/50 ZR16 to go on the original wheels (I like the original wheels )

$125 per tire from Tirerack, seems reasonable.

That's what's on my car. They seem good. Hold turns well and don't make any noise. Don't have a lot of miles on them yet but I like them so far.

BF Goodrich must have gotten cranked up in their production of g-Force Sport Comp tires. I tried to order some last year but they were unavailable. The factory guy I talked to said he didn't know when they would be available again and that with slow sales of that size, he didn't think they were even going to make any more.

By the way, I like the original wheels too. I have a '86 Coupe.

Well, a quick search on Google for the tire size didn't turn up much, glad the Tire Rack had them in inventory, not only that they are going to be at my installer tomorrow and I just ordered them today.

I have a set that have about 8k miles on them and they still ride and handle great ... plus it was the only option and I'm glad to see that I may be able to get another set when these are done. Mine has the Z/51 option, so I bought set of 9.5" rims for the front too, so I can at least rotate them front to back.

Yeah, my car is an 85 Z51 so all 4 are 9.5 wide.

If it's a Z51 car your car should have had 9.5's on all four from the factory unless someone changed them out at some point; interesting.

Mine is an 84. The standard 84 came with 8.5 all around. The Z/51 option only changed the rears to 9.5 which means that, even though they have the same size tire, they all have to be located in a specific corner.

Aye, 84's were staggered with the Z-51, he was saying that he went to all 4 9.5 to get more life from his tires.

Wow. The new tires are sooooooo nice. I am sure part of the reason is they are not 11 years old. Great grip and ride.

I had a set of G-Force Sports on my previous Porsche, and they were terrible...should have called them Ditchfinders. I'm curious if they behave better on the C4.
