dim speedometer
Hi, I am new to the forum and am hoping I can get some info here.
My corvette is a 1996 CE hatchback. The numbers on the speedometer are dim. The backlight is bright. The dimmer does nothing when I rotate it. I have bought a use cluster for $120 (haven't received it yet).
Did I buy the correct part to correct the problem, or is it something else?
I just spent a small fortune to have the abs accumulater replaced. Had to buy a used one since I was unable to find new. I thought it was a master cylinder problem and bought one, installed it and the problem was still there. Hope none of you ever have this problem.
Back to the speedometer-how difficult is it to replace the cluster?
any help will be GREATLY appreciated, thank you

Before you disassemble your dash first check the photocell that determines whether it is nighttime or daytime - the digital readout dims automatically at night - if that doesn't turn out to be the problem a bad ground can also explain your issue - I have fixed 3 digital readouts by simply removing and reseating the cluster
