car came with full tank of gas. drove it down to 1/2 on guage. then put in 15.5 gallons!

1. How much does tank hold?

speedometer indicated I was getting 17.2 miles per gallon. I had gone 169 miles mostly city driving. if I do the math it works out to 10.9 miles per gallon.

2. What is typical mileage for 1995 corvette?

Not to sound stupid but are you sure the tank was full? It sounds like you have a bad sending unit or a sending unit wiring issue, but that is just guessing without more knowledge.

I am not sure about your year but my 87 has a bar with lines, each line represents 1 gal of fuel, so at half a tank I have burned roughly 10 gallons. I use this as my gauge to determine how much gas has been used and then do the math in my head to double check if my trip mileage reading jives with my actual number of gallons used.

I would recommend you personally fill the tank and drive 100 miles and then refill the tank tracking exactly how many gallons are put back into the tank. Compare the number of gallons to your gauge and also to your trip odometer, this will tell you if your readout is accurate.

My 87 with a 383 and ton of upgrades gets 22-26 in city and about 30 on highway.

The tank holds 20 gallons of fuel.

Your 95 should be getting 26-30 mpg on the highway. You should do a complete tune up...

Hmmmm..... is your 95 a 4 speed auto or a 6 speed stick? This will have a significant impact on your mileage as will the rear-end ratio.

The advice above about filling the tank and then driving 100 miles and refilling is great advice. Do this 4 or 5 times and you should get a good idea of what your actual mileage is.

Do keep this in mind .............. driving 100 miles on the highway at a steady 65mph will get you wayyyyyy better mileage than using the permagrin option that your car came with.

Okay, I took the salesmans word tank was full. guage said full, but it might not have been. I reset trip odometer when I got car. so the 169 mileage was correct for how far I went.

I filled tank when guage was on half so the 15.5 is correct. So when I get to 100 miles I will fill it and check again. perhaps it was not full when I got it.

3. Premium, mid grade or regular?????

There are options???? Sorry i couldn't resist. I only run premium 91 or 93, personal preference but I do believe in the additives and do believe the hype about a cleaner fuel system.

But most of all I do believe higher compression is better for my motor.

I also get between 26-30 (sometimes slightly more) on the highway. I can't say for city, because I include some spirited miles on back roads.

I wouldn't count on more than about 19 usable, maybe less.

Last weekend I used a hand pump to drain and make room for fresh since it doesn't get driven often. Intended to leave 2-3 gallons to make it to the gas station. Started her up and she ran maybe 10 seconds and quit. Wanted to make sure I hadn't dislodged something on the sending unit, so removed it and was a bit surprised to see a good inch or more of fuel remaining. Across width of tank that could add up to a gallon or so??

This for you peeps who tend to run it on fumes...as we all have at some time or another.

put TECHRON in the gas tank. It will clean the sulfer off of the sending unit. Use only
top tier gas and you wont have this problem again.

If you have the performance 3.07 rear you will get less mileage

I have a 95 with 14,000 miles and the 3.07 gear. I average between 11 & 14 miles to the gallon in town.

It sounds alittle less than my 95 but it depends on traffic and driving habits

After filling it up myself and resetting the trip odometer I put 279 miles on it and it took 13.7 gallons. equals 20.364963504 miles per gallon, mostly in town driving. some country 2 lane roads. (see first post)

It was again at half full mark on gauge, If tank holds 20 gallons I have 5-6 left at half full mark. good thing to know.

Ill wait for trip to check out highway mileage.
