Default '88 35th horn button

First time posting. Have a '88, and replaced the steering wheel and horn
button. When i installed the horn button the 4 spring type tabs lock
it down flush with the wheel. Is this correct? Doesn't seem to have any
gap for when you push the button. Am i wrong on this? I don't have the
battery hooked up yet. Would appreciate some thoughts.

I believe that when you depress the center of the button it will depress the tabs enough to contact the metal sides and sound the horn.

Temp jumper power and test it.

Thanks, i'll give that a try tomorrow. Will have to re-heat garage again.
It seems we slipped back into winter. Darn global warming.
