86 Wheel Markings
hello Fellow Members:
I'm always amazed at the amount of knowledge on this forum....I'd like to tap into it once again.
Are 1986 stock wheels stamped as such on the inner lip? As it relates to NCRS, is there a way to differentiate 86 from 87 wheels?
thanks

Melting Slicks
The '87 wheel has an argent center while the '86 is just clear. However, I am unaware of any date coding, etc...

Here is some info on Corvette wheels:

DinoBob: I don't think the '87 wheels have argent centers. I just painted the inside barrels of my AFS wheels argent silver and the color is definitely silver vs. the dark gray of '87 wheels.

Yes the '86 wheel is a one year only production. Do you have a build sheet for your car? Do you have what you feel are '86 wheels? Are perhaps the wheels off of the car? '86 wheel casting information wouldn't be on a wheel lip but I believe would be cast into the wheel center section on the back-side. It would have considerable information.

86 Wheels
Thanks All!!
Looks to me like 86 wheels are different than 87. Thanks for the info, I'll have to stick to locating some 86 wheels for my 86.

From what I could find out, the Z-51 cars and the roadsters had the wider wheels.
I can't remember the exact RPO codes for the two, but they appear on the tag.
And yes, the 86 wheels are the only ones of this style with the "clear" center.
