Help me find a Wax for a black car
I have a car that the paint job is beginning to show its 10 year old age. I was wondering if there is a wax out there that is better in this situation?
It is showing thinning in some spots.
What do you use on your black cars?

I have to agree that Zaino is great, but one of the best combinations I've ever used for black is a base coat of Dark Magic by The Wax Shop, followed by Super Glaze also from The Wax Shop. The Super Glaze dose'nt seem to last as long as some others, especially Zaino, but it will put a shine on your black car that you'ed swear you could reach into.

Re: Help me find a Wax for a black car (Viet Nam Vett)
Hey I was in Zaino denial for about 5-6 months after I bought my car. I had plenty of Mequires in the garage and was going to use it. I finally broke down peer pressure from my fellow Rat Packer Leo and tried it. My car was repainted before I bought it and felt it really couldn't look much better.
The clay bar took alot of gunk off the lower sides and back of the car. My car is a daily driver in most weather and with the zaino it stay's cleaner after being in the rain which wasn't the case with the other. The color is deeper and my chrome wheels look a whole lot better.
The whole Zaino smaino deal is the real deal and don't be intimidated by all the steps they really aren't that big a deal. Look at my sig pic below and see what you think. It costs a little bit more but your not driving a freakin car, your driving a Vette.
BTW: the above picture was taken after sitting in my dusty garage for a week and was driven about 200 miles that day on dusty country back roads for a cruise with the Rat's and still looked good.

I use 3M and really like it. But, if you are ever on this forum, People would rather have a bottle of Zaino than John Lingenfelter come to their house and give their vette a "tune up" With that said, I am about to go order some of it and see if it is everything that everyone says it is.
Clay is the best thing I have come across so far. I hope this Zaino is the same!

If the paint is faded you need to polish first (3M pefect it II) But if it is thin (See primer) you are up a creek. I use (3M and Gold Class) The best wax will not bring back a bad finish. Clay and polish first then use the wax to protect.

An alternative to Zaino is Meguiar's Gold Class, but it sounds like the finish may need some attention first. Something gentle like swirl remover or the 3M product would likely help. If you have pictures, somebody might be able to be more specific. Failing that a more precise description of the problems and 'thinning' might help. Good luck.

I'm one of the few that use 3M products. If the finish is heavily oxidized, then use Perfect It Fine Cut Rubbing Compound (39002) follow up with SMR (39009) and protect it with the wax (39026). You can also do Imperial Hand Glaze before the wax for max shine. Apply using a random orbital buffer for best results. I use the Imperial hand glaze and the wax regularly on my black car. 7 year old original paint.

This black moment brought to you by Zaino. Last image (4 of 4) is bandwidth intensive. Be patient.
