I would look into having them powder coated. Or professionally painted.

Default Sawblades

My car came with sawblades, but they were covered with brake dust that was impossible to remove. I sold them and got some Collector edition A-molds. The guy I sold the wheels to got them powder coated black. he was very happy with how they turned out.
As a side note, mine were stock '93s and they were clearcoated aluminum.

Good luck with whatever you decide!!

not 100% sure, but I'm thinking the early years for the saw blades were painted silver, and later years were natural, machined finish with clear coat. as far as repainting the originals, go for it - plenty of you tube videos out there. hardest part is the prep. BTW, welcome to the forum -

My first C4, purchased from the original owner in 1989, was a 1984 and it had the natural machined wheels from the factory. It's been so long though that I can't remember if they had any clear coat on them or not. They definitely weren't painted though.

Default SawBlades

Ok -I found out that cleaning my sawblades with Easy-Off oven cleaner will clean all the grime and dirt but also will strip the clear coat--So I'm going to try cleaning then polishing then spraying my own clear coat..I tried one and it sure came up nice
Any thoughts

sounds like a plan, use adhesion promoter before the clear.

These aren't Sawblades but in my opinion is an example of not making a stock wheel look better by painting.

Maybe they would've looked better if didn't look like they were dipped in the color.

I used Kleen Strip aircraft stripper when I took the clear coat off of mine. It is very thick and easy to control.
I wasn't aware Easy Off would work like that.

Hope to see pix soon!

To each their own, but that doesn't do it for me.

I would agree.

I know the look and mods to our Vettes are a personal things but I really wonder what this guy was going for.

IMHO he missed.

I'm old school and think wheels should be chromed or polished, but painted seems to be the trendy look today. Remember when cast wheels were only for sporty cars? Now it's hard to find ANY car with steel rims these days. I also can't figure out why blackwall tires are the rage in recent decades. Years ago blackwalls were taxicab tires, whitewalls were classy and raised letter tires were"sporty".

Look great! I think that painting these wheels how they looked originally is the only way to go. Other colors just don't look good on them in my opinion.

The machined, polished look is definitely my favorite on the sawblades. And most wheels, for that matter.
