All the Vette's can't be the same and the C4 was the one that ushered in the era of technology. All the other cars at the time were literally box-like so the raked windshield and lower fenders were all the rage then. Now we're left with a very clean shape compared to modern cars. The 1st gen C4 shared gills, tail lamps, and nose with the c3's and the hood is quite nice when you look at is closely. They probably should have added more Italian curve to the rear quarter, but there's definitely a rise back there if you take the time to look for the subtleties. The most important thing is that they styled around a short wheelbase car with the correct long hood short deck proportions of the 60's. McLellan mentioned in his book that most of the engineering team of the C4 were around from the 60's C2 and C3 programs and they really wanted to bring that performance back to the Vette so the C4 has the same parentage, but packaged differently.

I love the back of the C5. The front does not get me to excited. The C6 has beautiful lines but the C7 is my favorite now. That is excluding the C1 and C2 which I would rather have then any of the rest but who has that kind of money to own such a toy.

Well , I had 2 teenage daughters that would disagree with you..Before I bought my 89 Vette 6 years ago I showed my 2 girls pictures of all the Corvettes, they both picked the C4 as the most attractive, followed by the C2 generation...If a 16 year old and a 19 year old find the C4 to be the better looking car, then I think all the young guys looking for a Vette would do well getting a C4 Corvette.......WW

I agree 100% I had to get my smog check on my 85 TA last week. It has been a while since I have driven her and on the way to the smog station I noticed it was getting more stare than my C4. Most 3rd gen f-bodies in the Bay Area are trashed. Once in a while I will see a nice IROC Z Camaro but seeing a 3rd gen TA in good condition is a rare site.
So Im biased

I like the molding. I'm a fan of all Corvettes...heck, even the C5 is starting to grow on me.

They toned down the curves of the C3. Consider the C3 was 16 years old by 1984.
They retained the hidden headlights but switched from vacuum to electric.
They retained but made much larger the round tailights which looked better with the more upright rear.
The mold line is actually reminicent of the C2 design line that circled the car.
The 84-90 front facia is a toned down version of the late model C3s.
They retained the leaf springs as they worked well on the C3 and it made the packaging of the suspension simpler with the lower body.
I personally like the "plainer" wedge look of the C4 and for me the most pleasing design. The one big mistake was eliminating the T roof. For rigidity they should have retained it instead of the targa roof.
I'd love to own any other Corvette. The one I like least is the C5 but I would never kick one out of my garage. To me the C6/7s have butts that are too big but again they would be welcome in my garage. I need to win the lotto so I can have one of each.
In general, any Corvette is cool.

The C3 is probably one of the sexiest of them all. However, the interior is a bit small with not much elbow room on the left side driver door. C3's are also very old with old technology, and if you don't buy one that's been fully restored they tend to be rattled traps with hidden rust. The 80's C3's were wimpy and under powered.
C4's are still tough looking and classy in an understated way. They've retained some of the harder styling lines both inside and out. They're rare on the street, and such give off a somewhat exotic vibe, but at the same time they don't look old and outdated. They have a timeless style. The mid 90's C4's are a real value for the money. You're getting a fairly modern car, with good ride and handeling. Allot of sportscar for the money.
The C5 & C6, are still good looking but I think a little overboard in styling roundness. It's almost as if the designers said, "let's eliminate all right angles and round off every corner". Even in the interior all shapes are either ovals or circles, and bubble shape radio buttons. Maybe they were trying to appeal a little bit more to the female market perhaps? I do see a lot of females driving the C5's and C6's. Nothing wrong with that.
The C7 brings back the edgier, agressive look with right angles and harder lines. Definitely a more male targeted design. I think because it is such a huge change that it will just take time to grow on people, and get used to. I think its agressive but not overdone. When I think of overdone or extravagant styling I think of lamborghini, for example. The technology in the C7 is the most amazing part, especially the active cylinder management.
No matter what though, you can't go wrong driving any Corvette. They all garner alot of respect and admiration.

Well at work this morning, my daily Corvette calender has a 1984 coupe for todays picture, and a co-worker came up to my desk and said 'what an ugly car to put on a calender'.

Well, I hope you grabbed him by the neck and smacked some sense into him..We can't tolerate any insults to our generation of Corvettes......

I've always thought the 82 Trans Am was a "poor man's Corvette"...even when I owned them. Shared many styling features, shared some parts, shared a platform philosophy. Lots in common IMO.
