THATS IT!!! MY CAR IS A POS AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Driving on this beautiful moring to gget bagels and drop off dry cleaning. I am on the way home and my car was idleing very rough...I look at my gauges and see that my coolent temp was @ 265!!! wth. I pull over at my past High School (I graduated) and barley get into the parking lot as i loose secondary systems (pw steering, pw brakes) I turn the car off leaving accesories on so the fan would keep blowing. Well i got AAA to tow the car to thegas station in town my parents use. We know what went wrong in the next 24 hours. I hate this car. I no longer have any quams about selling it. Don't worry I'll buy another one after college. This time i will research it A LOT MORE. Damn car.

you hate it just because you overheated? My God, you'd want to use my cars for target practice.

You have a car that's 18 years old!!!!
What do you expect with such an old car??
I've said this a million times to people about Corvettes............"It's easy to buy a Corvette, the hard part is owning one!"

were you wearing that suit when you had to walk home? Hope it wasn't too hot out!!!
Just kidding....
sounds like bad head gasket. You have iron heads, so it probably didn't hurt much. Pull the heads, clean 'em up, surfaced-valve job-etc. put it back together.
Good luck.

And atleast you have a car now, and it can be fixed. Mine can't. So if your serious about selling and are in the Orlando area sometime soon...j/k... Better luck, i've been there before and know how tough it is.

I agree with what everyone else is saying - I know it sucks, but the car is old, things happen. My C4 has had it's share of problems. As soon as you sell it you'll be missing it very much - I guarantee you that!

Re: (92TripleBlack)
When it rains it pours, unfortunately. I had the same problem with my 90. It really makes you disgusted. I have been lucky on the ZR-1 so far (knock on wood!). Hope it is not a head gasket just because of the labor cost related to that, although a water pump is not much better.
I overheated my truck one time - GMC 2500 - (on the way to NC State Vet School with a deathly ill horse...lost the serpentine belt) and it cut off as well....didn't notice until I saw my battery warning light come on and then saw the temp gauge was beyond pegged, then the truck shut off. I was freaked that I had blown the motor, it puked oil for several hundred feet as I pulled off the highway - you could see the trail and it turned out 2 qt low when checked. But it ended up being fine luckily.

Re: (VetteBabe1)
Hey, you've got an almost 17 year old car there! Stuff tends to go wrong when your car hits that age. I have spent thousands in mine already and none of it was for performance. BUT, i only paid $5500 for the car, instead of $60,000 for a brand new one. When i am finished with this thing, i will be seeing alot of C5's in my mirrors while saving $40,000. So, i am still in the lead!! :D :D :D

Sorry to hear that, man.
Good luck with it for now. Keep us posted on what you decide to do and what you end up with in the future.
