Opinions on ZR1 silver painted wheel finish
Anyone have photos or opinions on the silver painted ZR1 wheels on a C4? I'm looking to put some ZR1 wheels on my white 1995 Corvette. I had my mind set on the black ones until I saw a white Corvette with the silver painted wheels, and now I can't decide. The painted wheels do not seem to be very popular, I haven't found many photos online of C4s with the silver painted wheels. I appreciate any input.

If you have a white C4 I highly recommend black wheels. You can photoshop black very easily into anything. If you don't like black, try Gunmetal. Black on a white Vette looks sick.

The popularity of the ZR-1/CE/SS wheels have declined considerably in the last few years as people have moved on to other wheels. If you want period correct, go with chrome or silver. Black seems to be more popular with the younger owners who haven't moved on. I don't know if black is a love/hate thing, but it is definitely a like/dislike thing.

I'm in same predicament. Black 93 C4 here. Currently have TT2 polished wheels. They are always dirty and in need of re-polishing. That said, I advise against polished wheels. I might powder my TT2 wheels black or change all out to painted or chromed ZR1 style wheels like you.
C4s seem hard to match a good wheel - I don't know why.

The silver wheels would look very good IMO, as would a set if chrome ones.

Color painted or polished, it's eye of the beholder that really counts.
Chrome or polished? I like polished aluminum.
Painted black or silver? I like black with a polished rim ring.
Color painted? just depends on the car color.

I've got Polished and I'm itching to have them powder-coated to match the painted finish on the original ZR-1's. I love the softer look of the painted/powder-coated finish. Mine have just a bit too much "bling" going on. One man's humble opinion; take it or leave it.

I think black would suit you better, it would make it pop more. I bought a set of 4 wheels, 2 17" x 11" and 2 17" x 9.5" highly polished aluminum ZR1 rims for very cheap and they had gotten good reviews from some people. Here's the link.

I tried the silver painted ones on my '94. (actually Camaro SS 17"x9")
I like the painted or polished best. Unfortunately mine need to be refinished, so I am thinking about powder coating. I saw a set in a gunmetal gray that I thought looked good too, so I am not sure which I will choose.

Check out this thread: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c4-g...eels-pics.html It has 35 pages of C4's with after market wheels. I went through and downloaded a bunch of pictures of ZR1 wheels in black, chrome/polished, and silver, trying to decide what finish I wanted to order for my Polar White coupe. In the end I ordered gun metal gray C6 Z06 wheels with polished/machined lips, so I guess I concluded that I wanted something a little different from the standard ZR1 repops.
