Default Garage lift question

I'm pretty sure that I will be able to pull the trigger on a direct lift four post car lift for my garage this spring.
These things seem fairly inexpensive at about $2,100.00, plus shipping and only require 110volt power.
I have an 11' ceiling, but the garage door track is lower and would make it tight to store a car on top.
Any one know if the garage door track can be extended higher and the opener moved up to get more clearance?
Thanks

Yep, just contact your local garage door company. I did one of mine a couple of months ago. Works like a charm.

Cool, I just called a local company and they are stopping over Friday to get a look and give me an estimate.
Knowing that we may not have everything the same, I just wondered what the cost was for you just so I have a general idea?
thanks

Im interested to hear the response to this question myself since Im getting a 4 post lift in the spring also.. I have a 13' ceiling in my 2 car garage and either need the door track raised like your talking about, or I may have to get a roll up type door....WW

..You will need to move the shaft line up accordingly and you will need longer cables. Not hard for a competent door technician

Cost was around $300. I have a coil spring. They also put spring loaded bumper stops on each rail. I'm buying a Liftmaster side mount opener for the next one, since we use that door to enter the home almost entirely.

And worth every penny... A few years ago I purchased a BendPak HD-9. You will love it. It is SO much easier to work on most anything on the car. One warning though....you will find friends you never knew you had.

I also made a couple ramps & boxes to drive my 60" Bad Boy mower on it from the side, then raise it up to scrape off the deck.

Just used mine again last week to change the oil & filter on my quad before winter sets in. (rode it on just like the mower)

True statement right there. One neighbour tried, and I told him that I charge $80/hour.

LOL! I never thought of using that line!

Here's mine. 9' 6" ceiling height and I can still get my '86 Fiero DGP widebody underneath it. Best investment I ever made.

Although more expensive, the Backyard Buddy is a great lift and able to deal with the slope I have on my garage floor (local building code). Id buy another one in a heartbeat

Nice shot!
Mine will have my 79 Z/28 on top and my Corvette on the bottom too.
One thing to my advantage is that I had one side of my garage deeper, so I'll be back a little from the door

Well, I just made an appointment to have a garage door company come over Friday to give an estimate on how much it will cost to convert my garage door to raise up near my 12' ceiling. It now raises to the 8' level where it rolls back overhead like most garage doors do... I'll let you guys know approximately how much it cost to convert. They said I would need a different door opener then the one I have now and they would have to extend the runners .. That can't be cheap......WW

Not sure what type you have now, but someone sent me this one;
http://www.liftmaster.com/lmcv2/prod...e-door-opener/

It attaches at one the end of the bar and on Ebay they are about $300.00

In some cases you can also bump-out the ceiling a bit to get the car higher.

Default What about a Quickjack B3500

Anyone using or have experience with this unit from BendPak?
