Tried the G-Tech today
I did some early Christmas shopping for my Dad and got him the G tech. In the interest of making 100% sure it worked, I had to try it in my 1990 Convertible this morning.
I did a couple 1/4 runs and clocked 14.0 @ 102MPH. The dyno pull logged 261HP @ 4800 rpm and 335 Ft lbs at 3600 or so. I was hoping to get a better ET, but I was doing this on desolate roads and didn't want to push my luck by doing too many runs.

I guess it's most handy for getting a baseline in the 1st place. Unfortunately I got it for my Dad and didn't get a baseline for myself. Since it's the same measuring device you can compare against the same numbers and get the tune dialed in or see what effect the mods did very quickly. I'll get this in his LS3 Camaro and compare, but it will have to wait since this is a Christmas present.
My runs weren't too bad as I didn't bang shifts on my manual and I had the top down. I was also shifting at 5500 RPM. That's probably too high for the L98.

I had an early version of it about 20 years ago. Mine was a Vericom brand. It was quite close to what I actually got at a 1/4 mile strip. Some of the magazines were using them instead of taking their test cars to a strip.
Like you said you can use it again and again to see what effect the mods made. You can also set it up for just 60' times so you can practice your launches.
I used to use it pretty often for checking mods and practicing. It helped.
