So because I paid less than 5k, this is a parts car? & Other questions
People on here said any C4 under 5k is a parts car. Well take a look at the one I just bought and tell me if you think it is. Keep in mind, I paid FAR FAR less than 5k and just drove it 4 hours home.
It's a 3 owner 94 Lt1 auto in dark red metallic (1500 made)
Immediate mechanical needs?
Tires and alignment & a lifter that taps replaced
Starter takes 15 clicks sometimes to finally catch
Not so immediate needs:
New OEM CD player (will 1990-1993 work?), the current one eats tape decks.
Fuel gauge reads full all the time.
2x2 patch of clear coat failure on the deck lid.
Everything else is 100% functional. As far as options it has the FX3 suspension and power front seats.
Should the seat switches, suspensions switch and ASR switch light up at night? These ones don't.
Also, it has 135k. Would you recommend changing the trans fluid and filter? I have a case of Royal Purple ATF sitting here doing nothing.

You either got the deal of the year , or there is something wrong that you haven't found yet Could be that the seller didn't have any real idea of the value.
Saw the rear wheels too! If you are going to buy tires, that's an easy fix but make sure the tire shop looks the Left Side and Right Side markings on the inside of the wheels
Just out of curiosity, are all the tires the same size? 275/40-17 all around or are they 255/45-17 front and 285/40-17 in the rear? With the FX3 shocks, if the tires are all the same size, the car could have the optional Z07 performance suspension. But FX3 was available by itself with the base suspension. Look under the console lid for the Service Parts Identification sticker or RPO sticker. That will show the codes for all of the options installed on the car.
As far as the head unit, it can be rebuilt or you can get one from a '93. The earlier units had amber lettering and lights. Or you can go with aftermarket audio equipment. Check the Audio/Electronics forum for lots of information about C4 audio equipment.

It really doesn't matter what you paid for it. It's your car and if you're happy with it, who cares what everyone thinks? If it's running, it's obviously not a parts car. Enjoy it, do the necessary maintenance and repairs and she should last a long time.

I don't agree with his statement on that. I looked at a '94 ZR-1 with 13,000 miles on it and it was definetely worth the $30,000+ price tag on it. It was literally a new car for over half of what it sold for new.

Judge for yourself.

I said except for a low mileage ZR1.
I also find it extremely amusing how you guys said I was the 'butthurt' one yet you come into another thread and say the same stuff I think you need to look at your own life.
You guys are pretty incredible

Well, that 94 isn't exactly a ZR-1 is it? FWIW, it sounds like its about a $5k car, so you probably did okay. Start by fixing the most pressing problems, which except for the lifter (make sure is not an exhaust leak, often sounds familiar) are pretty common for a 20 year old Vette. Enjoy it, its a beautiful color.

I've parted out a bunch of them (slowly increasing the values of your cars by making them rarer.....You're welcome).
I would not pay 5k for a parts car, the profit left would not be worth the effort. they gotta be 3k or less and for that it's at least gotta run and be a six speed. Crappy Auto no one buys with cheap rear end would be 2k running.
