Post your opinion on what this car would sell for, please
I have a local guy who expressed interest in buying my C4 and it coincides with me giving consideration to selling it, for the first time.
It's an '86 coupe, here's most of the details:
Disclosures:
The interior is the stock original, a bit rough. The door trim on both doors is in need of replacement, driver's side seat needs to be restitched or recovered. A/C deleted, no cruise control. No smog equipment. Windshield wiper motor needs to be replaced. All other electrical is operable. 127k miles. Arizona car. Exhaust is quite loud. I have owned it for almost 20 years, and have taken good care of it*
*Purists may disagree, see below.
Mods:
383 C.I.D./ this build has about 500 miles on it
Holley 850 double pumper Carb
Edelbrock Super Victor intake
Probe forged Pistons(10.5/1 compression)
H-Beam forged rods
Lunatti 4340 forged crank
T&D lifters 1.6
AFR 1100 Heads
Comp Cam part # 12-000-9 .691 valve lift for intake and exhaust at 1.5
Hooker Supercomp Long tubes, coated
3" dual exhaust (H pipe)
Flowmasters
Dana 44 pumpkin w/ 3.73 gears
dewitt radiator, 4 core
Transmission cooler
Pete K 700R4 transmission beefed up as much as one can beef up this tranny, 3-4 WOT shift. Just, rebuilt 100 miles ago
Holley Black fuel pump
MSD Billet distributor
MSD Blaster HVC coil
MSD digital 6 plus
New Targa top,
Repainted, 5 years ago.
Hood scoop with functional nostrils, also drilled in back for induction breathing
VBP brakes and slotted rotors on all 4
Koni Adjustable shocks on all 4
17X11 on the back, 17X9 front,
Goodyear GS-D3's on all 4.
Extra set of rear rims with almost new drag radials on them
Sony detachable deck MP3/CD/USB
Pioneer speakers all around with a 700 Watt amp
2 10" subs in an enclosure on the back deck w/ supporting 900 Watt amp
That's about all I can think of right now.
The car runs great, 11 sec car as it is set up now.
Thank you for your input.

Being such a highly modded car, really narrows your market.
If you have someone expressing interest and you both agree on a price that seems fair to each, then sell it.
You may never get what it might really be worth, just because of the unique market for that type of car.

I agree with you, of course. I was hoping someone who had some hotrod experience might have an idea. Like you mentioned, I don't expect to get out what I put in, but I am wondering if it's worth any more than a nice stock 'vette of the same year. I really don't know where to start.
Thanks for the post.

Truth be told.... The minute that the mods start, the value "when stacked against a similar, non modded, nice condition Vette" goes down in the eyes of regular buyers that are looking for a nice stocker.
I wish i could point you to a better source for pricing your car, which seems to me you have done good mods and taken good care of it. Maybe look at the completed auctions on ebay for similar modded cars, or do a search nationwide on craigslist (there is a search browser that lets you do that), and maybe see what they are bringing.
You should probably advertise it aiming to the right buyer that will be interested in the 383 and other go fast mods, and that will see that as a good starting point for whatever he wants.

There are buyers for modded cars that know the best way to buy them is with the hard work and money spent done.
Again hard to determine a price, youll have to hash that one out.
